Victoria Azarenka‘s encouraging start to the season continued in Rome as she reached the quarterfinals of the top-tier clay Masters event. However, she lost to an in-form Danielle Collins in the last eight, but a viral video of her yelling at her coach takes the spotlight despite her defeat.

The viral clip was posted by an X (formerly known as Twitter) user in which Azarenka was losing 1-4 in the second set being down 1-0 in the match. She had lost a point to Collins and a “come on” was shouted from her box. The Belarusian then turned, staring at her coach Maxime Tchoutakian, clapping back at him.

Tchoutakian looked lost after being yelled at by the former World No.1. Azarenka went on to lose the set 6-3. But the match was breathtaking from the beginning to the end. Collins was very eager to win the match, as she showed aggression pushing Azarenka to her baseline. At one point in the match, she was seen telling the cameraman to back up after during a changeover.

Both Azarenka and Collins smashed their racket, however, Azarenka slammed her’s after consecutive unforced errors. Collins hit her racket on the clay surface after losing breakpoints in the second set. But she showed strength and composure as she won all the remaining aces to win the quarterfinal clash.

Collins will face Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal of the Rome Masters as she hopes to win her first clay title of the season. She is on a 19-1 record since March, winning the Miami and Charleston Open.

Victoria Azarenka hoping to take Rome form into the Roland Garros

Victoria Azarenka will be hoping to take the Rome Masters form into the Roland Garros, which starts on May 20. The Belarusian earned her biggest victory in Rome, beating Maria Sakkari in the third round, and defeated Mayar Sherif in the second round of the tournament.

In March, she reached the semifinals of the Miami Open but lost to Jessica Pegula in the early round of the Charleston Open. Her main threat this season has been her inconsistent performance.

She shockingly lost to Spanish star Sara Sorribes Tormo in Madrid despite being the favorite to win the second-round match.
