Boxing is a thinking man’s game, not a strongman puncher. No wonder it’s called the ‘sweet science.’ But that does not harm to have a reserve of strength. Artur Beterbiev says he’s done the “main work” for Saturday night’s fight with Dmitry Bivol. Now, he’s giving inputs to testaments of his power in rare workout session videos!
WBC, WBO, and IBF champion Artur Beterbiev meets WBA champ Dmitry Bivol to fight for the undisputed light heavyweight crown. After the heavyweight, it will mark the first winner to unify the 175lb belts in the four-belt era. Beterbiev, otherwise already known for his brute strength and such feats is putting in the work for it. The ‘Silent Assassin’ recently went viral bench pressing 50kg (110 lbs) in each hand!
There are those like Keyshawn Davis, who bills 175lbs champion Beterbiev as “Unnaturally strong” due to possible PED boosts. He thus thinks that, more naturally, Dmitry Bivol has the upper hand. However, from failing his 295 lbs bench press bracket around 2020 to this is quite a feat! For perspective, UFC interim heavyweight Tom Aspinall has pressed similar weights along with Strongest Man Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall.

But even a division below, Beterbiev shows better conditioning and does it without a spot-up! Given that there is a massive chance of unification, all and sundry are keeping an eye out for the latest signs of strengths and weaknesses. Even the new undisputed heavyweight champ, Oleksandr Usyk, has chimed in with what he thinks. The 38-year-old has some ideas about that.
Artur Beterbiev is not worried about Oleksandr Usyk picking Dmitry Bivol to win
The Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol event will be a special broadcast from Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Boxing fans looking to back the action can do so by playing the money line. It has Bivol as a slight favorite at -140 versus +120 for Beterbiev, or dive into some of the props and betting specials available.
Many pundits and peers are split up between the two. Lyndon Arthur picks Beterbiev; Sergio Mora picks late stoppage for Bivol if he can work in his pocket well. Tim Bradley and Jai Opetaia accordingly think Bivol can tie up the Russian rival and outwork him. Usyk has chosen Bivol as well. The Russian doesn’t mind his former rival picking that way.
There is a belief that Usyk is still bitter about his 2012 Olympics fight with Beterbiev. Artur seemingly hurt him badly, pushing him to the point of losing the contest. Beterbiev won two of the three rounds and, despite a 17-13, punched holes in Usyk with every shot.
However, there is also the fact that Bivol is just as potent as himself. He proved that in his scrap against Canelo Alvarez. Artur Beterbiev knows it’s a puncher’s chance to victory. But he says should he lose, it won’t be because of his surroundings or heeding too much to what others think.
