For someone who was once labeled as a potential ‘bust,’ Caleb Williams has turned out to be a revelation in his second season with the Chicago Bears.
It is not as if he does not make mistakes, as was evident from his first two interceptions in regulation against the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round.
However, that Divisional round clash was also another example of how high up the USC alum could reach if he is coached and developed well.
Down seven, the Bears needed to score a touchdown and an extra point to stay in the hunt. With less than two minutes to go, the Rams, who had stopped Caleb Williams on his previous four drives, felt confident they had done enough.
Then, as he started to drive down into their half, the away team was hoping the sophomore QB could not get close to a scoring position. Eventually, the Rams’ defense managed to force the Bears into a fourth down at their 14-yard-line.
Knowing they could be called to get back out on offense, many Rams players, including star wide receiver Davante Adams, were standing on the sideline, waiting for their turn to re-enter the game.

Then, as they saw the Bears QB scramble back to avoid being sacked, those players wearing blue and yellow were probably feeling good about winning the game.
However, when they saw Williams heave a perfect ball off-balance and off his back foot to tight end Cole Kmet in the end zone, they were left stunned, with Adams throwing his hands above his helmet in awe of what he had just witnessed.
Davante Adams gives Caleb Williams his flowers
Caleb Williams’ stunning throw was not enough to help his Chicago Bears win, as his teammate, DJ Moore, ended up costing them a chance after his lack of effort led to a game-sealing interception.
Despite that, his late-game performances and the confidence with which he has led his team this season did not go unnoticed. Davante Adams, who has seen quarterbacks do less with more, said this to the 24-year-old.
You a dawg. I know you know that. Keep doing your thing, bro.
Davante Adams said
After this exchange, Williams asked the 33-year-old if he could get his game-worn jersey. To this, the California native responded that he would get the jersey across to him, as many others do later during the week.

This proves the respect the 6-time Pro Bowler has for the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner. For someone who struggled that much in his first year in the NFL to come this far to get his flowers from one of the best, says something about Caleb Williams’ development.
Caleb Williams will need to rein in postseason turnovers
Other than the final game-losing interception, which was mostly wideout DJ Moore’s fault, Caleb Williams has had some questionable moments in his first two postseason games.

After throwing just seven interceptions in the 17 regular-season games he played, the Bears quarterback threw five in the first two playoff games of his career.
The franchise has languished as a bottom rung organization for nearly two decades. If they are to improve, they will need their most important player to do better than throwing that many interceptions, along with his lone fumble.
In the regular season, every team has another chance to win if its signal caller has a bad game. That changes in the postseason where the quarterback has to be at least efficient and turnover-free.
To rein in his mistakes, Williams should work with head coach Ben Johnson in the upcoming offseason to iron out what troubled him in those two games.
