Alcaraz is bidding to become the youngest player to achieve the Career Grand Slam, as he already bagged the 2022 US Open, 2023 Wimbledon, and the 2024 French Open. At the Australian Open, he has never succeeded in progressing to the semifinal and was defeated in four sets last year.

Novak Djokovic on the other hand, is chasing his 25th Grand Slam title. After scripting history in 2023 with three majors, he failed to lift any in 2024 but came close to clinching the Wimbledon which he lost to Alcaraz in the final.

That was their last meeting on the ATP Tour. But after that, they met in the 2024 Paris Olympics, which the 37-time Grand Slam champion won in straight sets.

The 10-time Grand Slam champion, who beat Jiri Lehecka in the fourth round, is 4-3 in their head-to-head meeting. At the Australian Open last year, he lost to current World No.1 Jannik Sinner in four sets in the semifinals.
