LeBron James' trolling backfires for Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Derby headlined a packed Tuesday night in the association as the Los Angeles Lakers took on their city rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers. This was the Lakers’ second visit to their rival’s new home arena, as the Clippers shifted into their new home at the Intuit Dome at the start of this season. However, LeBron James proved to be the Grinch for a hilariously enthusiastic Clippers home crowd.

While much of the attention in the game was directed towards the Lakers’ recent blockbuster acquisition of Luka Doncic, the Clippers crowd was focused on distracting the players on the court as much as possible. The infamous Fan Wall at the Intuit Dome took aim at LeBron James in the hopes of getting into the superstar’s head after the Lakers had started the game with a dominating lead.

The fans in ‘The Wall’ hilariously displayed a photo of James before shaving off his hairline to troll the 40-year-old star. Unfortunately for Clippers fans, their tactics did not seem to pay off, as the Lakers went home with an absolutely dominant 122-97 victory. After jumping out to an early lead with a 45-29 first quarter, the Lakers never looked back, ballooning the lead to 31 points in the game’s final period.

At the forefront of the victory was none other than LeBron James’, who scored 26 points on 8-13 shooting from the field and 8-11 from the charity stripe. Although the Lakers were still without their latest superstar acquisition, they seemed unfazed against a healthy Clippers squad, which saw the likes of Kawhi Leonard, James Harden and Norman Powell all available but unable to contribute much.

LeBron James opens up about playing with Luka Doncic

While the Lakers sealed another important victory with a dominant performance on Tuesday, all eyes continue to remain on how the team will incorporate their latest addition of Luka Doncic. The pairing of Doncic and James remains a work in progress, with both stars playing similar roles throughout their career. However, James cast aside any doubts about their fit while speaking in his postgame interview.

It’s gonna be special, I think so. We gonna attract a lot of eyes. Obviously, our ability to score, rebound, and pass is gonna make it a lot easier on our teammates, and that’s all we want to do. We want to be able to create opportunities for our teammates where they only have to catch finish, catch dunk, catch shoot, and it’s our job to lead them every single night.

James said postgame

James went on to describe his excitement about playing with Doncic, especially pointing to the young age of the 25-year-old star. Given his age, Doncic has yet to enter his career’s prime, which makes the prospect of his addition to the Lakers all the more enticing.

While both LeBron James and Luka Doncic will have to make some sacrifices in their game to incorporate their similar play styles, both stars have enough versatility in their game to instantly become one of the most unstoppable duos on the offensive end of the floor, especially down the stretch of games. All that remains now is Doncic’s eventual return to the floor for his Lakers debut.
