Corentin Moutet had a straight-set victory over Argentina’s Francisco Comesana in his first-round match at Wimbledon this year. What was most striking about this match was a mind-blowing tweener shot produced by the Frenchman in the third set, leading 3-2.
While Comesana was deep on the baseline after returning a lob, Moutet lifted his racket above in what everybody expected to be a smash from the net. Moutet instead smoothly dropped his racquet between his legs and executed a perfectly disguised tweener drop shot and won the point.
Moutet looked almost embarrassed to have pulled it off, and his opponent came to the net to congratulate him on the shot afterwards.

The crowd roared in thunderous applause after the shot, and the moment quickly went viral on social media. It was only the second day of the Wimbledon Championships, but some fans have already claimed that it is the best shot at this year’s tournament.
Corentin Moutet has had a good grass swing
Corentin Moutet had a good grass swing, reaching his maiden grass-court final and also the first final of his season at the Mallorca Open. The 26-year-old lost that final to Tallon Griekspoor a few days before he commenced his Wimbledon campaign.

Moutet’s best run at Wimbledon has been till the second round only so far, and it will be interesting to see if he can improve on that after his upcoming meeting with Grigor Dimitrov on Thursday.
Grigor Dimitrov defeated Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round
Grigor Dimitrov defeated Japan’s Yoshihito Nishioka in straight sets in his opening round at Wimbledon this year, marking his first match on grass this season. Dimitrov’s best run at the tournament was in 2014, where he reached the semifinals, defeating defending champion Andy Murray in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, Dimitrov lost to eventual champion Novak Djokovic, who is now on his quest for a 25th Grand Slam title and to tally Roger Federer’s record of 8 Wimbledon titles. The Serb has reached the finals of Wimbledon for the last six editions, losing out on the last two to Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic defeated Alexandre Muller in his opening round match to set a clash with Great Britain’s Dan Evans in the second round this year.
Dimitrov, Djokovic, and Alcaraz are among the 19 seeded players who had made it to the second round of Wimbledon this year, with Alcaraz now reaching the third round. By reaching the third round, Alcaraz has extended his winning streak to 20. It is the third-longest winning streak on the ATP tour amongst active players after Djokovic (43) and Jannik Sinner (26), and it tallies with Daniil Medvedev.
The shocking opening round exit of 13 seeded players in the men’s tournament marks the most in the history of Wimbledon in the Open Era. The 13 losses equal the record set for any Grand Slam at the 2004 Australian Open.
