Donovan Mitchell hit the game winner against the Milwaukee Bucks

The Cleveland Cavaliers this season are arguably the hottest team in the league and are led by Donovan Mitchell who is making a statement this season. His latest performance against the Milwaukee Bucks is proof of his All-Star status.

With Donovan Mitchell leading the way, the Cavs have remained undefeated and that winning run was at a risk of ending had it not been for Spida’s game-winning shot with less than a second left against the Milwaukee Bucks. He spoke to reporters after the game and gave his honest response about his first game-winning shot.

Am I wrong? I thought it was. I think so. Maybe that was my first… My definition of a game-winner was one like that. I could have given us the lead with 10 seconds left.

Donovan Mitchell said to reporters after the game:

It was a sad night for the home fans, as the Bucks got off to a hot start, and led by 16 points in the first quarter, but the Cavaliers chipped away at the lead and eventually took control in the closing possessions of the second quarter. The final 24 minutes were a back-and-forth affair, with 17 lead changes in the second half alone.

Star player, Damian Lillard had given the Bucks a one-point lead with 9.8 seconds to play, but Mitchell saved the day with his clutch shot. He finished the game with 30 points, three rebounds, and four assists, shooting 44 percent from the field and 50 percent from behind the arc.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Lillard proved that they indeed have some chemistry, and also delivered strong performances, as they scored 34 and 41 points, respectively. It just wasn’t their night.

Donovan Mitchell’s rise to Cleveland Cavaliers’ stardom

Without a doubt, Donovan Mitchell has been a game-changer for the Cleveland Cavaliers since his arrival. This season, he has led the Cavs to a 7-0 start, the second-best in franchise history.

That has led him to be ranked as one of the best players the team has had. Even done what had been impossible since the departure of fan favorite, LeBron James.

Furthermore, his individual success is just as impressive. He recently tied Kyrie Irving’s franchise record for 30-point games with 54 and even achieved the feat in just three seasons and 145 games.

Uncle Drew took six seasons and 433 games to reach the same mark. And Mitchell is now on the cusp of passing Irving and moving into third place in the franchise’s history.
