It’s week 1 of NFL football and Tyreek Hill might have given fans a top 3 contender for touchdown celebration of the year. The wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins was arrested on his way to Hard Rock Stadium in Miami for reckless driving and speeding.
The incident sparked outrage amongst fans after images of Tyreek Hill being handcuffed and made to sit on the pavement went viral. However, that did not prevent Hill from doing what he does best. Despite the minor inconvenience, Hill had 130 yards on 7 receptions and scored a touchdown with a celebration that he most likely came up with while he was cuffed.
It was a fitting end to an unusual day. The 80-yard touchdown came late in the third quarter of the Dolphins’ matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The play ended up giving the home team the lead over the visitors. Eventually, Miami caught up and won the game 20-14.

Stephen A. Smith labels Tyreek Hill’s arrest handling by Police ‘wrong’
The wide receiver being arrested on his way to Hard Rock Stadium has been criticized by fans online. ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith expressed his anger over the treatment of the NFL star and compared it to the arrest of golfer Scottie Scheffler earlier this year.
This story with the police involving @cheetah ain't going away damnit. Traffic violation? Fine. But WTH was he face down in cuffs, stood up, then the other officer runs over behind him and forces him to the ground again??? Hell No! Excessive! Wrong! Again, this ain't going away.Stephen A. The analyst was baffled by the unnecessary use of force which the officers resorted to keep an already handcuffed Hill down.
When Scottie Scheffler was arrested before the PGA Championship, he was handcuffed and directly escorted to the back of a police car. There was no excessive force that the police resorted to nor did they attempt to pin him down to the ground. However, with Tyreek Hill, it was a completely different story.
Hill himself reflected on the same and asked what if he wasn’t who he was. As per him, during the ‘incident’, He wanted to ensure he followed his uncle’s advice in situations like that—keeping his hands on the steering wheel and listening.
It's hard. I don't want to bring race into it, but sometimes it gets kind of iffy when you do. What if I wasn't Tyreek Hill? Lord knows what those guys would have done.Tyreek Hill said in the post game presser
Owing to the uproar, the Miami-Dade Police Department announced later on Sunday that one of the officers had been placed on administrative leave over his role in detaining Hill. In addition to this, an internal affairs investigation is underway to review the officer’s actions. Despite the rough start, Hill had a pleasant ending to his day as his team secured the win.
