Iga Swiatek is a ‘Swiftie’ and even blushed when she was reminded of the time she received a hand-written letter from Taylor Swift. Swiatek is in Riyadh for the WTA Finals and in the midst of her campaign, she answered some questions.
The first question was about the year Swiatek broke into the WTA top 100 and she gave the right answer. She became a top 100 player back in 2019. When asked about the number of WTA singles titles, she said it’s 22. Then Swiatek was asked about the book Beatriz Haddad Maia recommended to her.
When she was asked about the celebrity who congratulated her with a hand-written letter, Swiatek blushed as she placed both her hands on the side of her cheeks and giggled.

Iga Swiatek will lock horns with Daria Kasatkina
Iga Swiatek has an important match on Thursday (November 7). After eking out a victory against Barbora Krejcikova in her first group-stage match at the WTA Finals, Swiatek fell to Coco Gauff in the second match.
She was initially scheduled to play against Jessica Pegula but as the American withdrew from the event, Swiatek will be up against Daria Kasatkina. The Russian ace, who failed to qualify for the year-end event, will be playing her first match in the tournament as Pegula’s replacement.
Swiatek has met the World No. 9 six times on the WTA Tour and won five matches. But their last encounter was back in 2022 in the group-stage match in the WTA Finals, which the World No. 2 won. Kasatkina had secured that lone victory over the Pole in the fourth round of the 2021 Eastbourne International.
The 27-year-old is 40/22 on the season and won two titles, the Eastbourne International and the Ningbo Open. Swiatek on the other hand, has lifted five titles this season but is yet to clinch a trophy on the WTA Tour since her French Open win.
