Isaiah Stewart called out Myles Turner over his Lego hobby drawing reactions from fans

The Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers’ storied rivalry added another chapter on Thursday night after Indiana secured a 111-100 victory. While the game itself was intense, with both teams exchanging blows back and forth, it was their postgame interaction that caught the eye of the internet. The exchange took place when Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart took a rather playful jab at Pacers center Myles Turner.

The moment occurred following a heated exchange between Stewart and Pacers forward Pascal Siakam in the second half. As tensions flared postgame, both teams exchanged words with Stewart appearing to size up the Pacers center before blurting out an unexpected question about Myles Turner’s well-documented obsession with Legos.

As both teams converged with trash talk going both ways, Isaiah Stewart called out Turner by saying, “You play with Legos.” Given that Turner had just torched the Pistons with a dominant 28-point performance, including an incredible 8-of-11 shooting from three-point range, Stewart’s comments were definitely unexpected, especially given the uncanny jab at Legos.

Turner, who has openly shared his passion for building intricate Lego sets, could only smirk at Stewart’s remark. Thankfully, the exchanges between the Pacers and Pistons were confined to the court this time, much in contrast to the infamous Malice at the Palace incident between the two teams over two decades ago.

Fans left in splits over Isaiah Stewart’s cheeky comments

Even though the game between two Eastern Conference rivals was crucial for the possible playoff implications of their seeding, NBA fans quickly took to social media to react to the hilarious exchange. Some were fans of Isaiah Stewart’s comedic timing, although others did point out that it was a rare case of trash talk doubling as an oddly respectful compliment for Myles Turner.

The highlight of the reactions among fans was certainly the callback to the Pacers and Pistons rivalry. Their altercation on Thursday added fuel to an already competitive rivalry between the two franchises. Dating back to the early 2000s, Pistons vs. Pacers matchups have often been heated, with the infamous 2004 ‘Malice at the Palace’ standing as perhaps the most notorious moment in NBA history.

Even in recent years, the tension has remained high. During the 2024 Rising Stars Challenge, Pistons guard Jaden Ivey and Pacers’ Bennedict Mathurin had a fiery exchange, continuing the tradition of intense battles between these two squads.

The Pistons and Pacers last faced off in a November NBA Cup game which was a blowout won by Detroit 130-106. Indiana responded with a strong performance this time around. With both teams set to meet again on January 29, 2025, we can certainly expect another entertaining showdown. Not least between Myles Turner and Isaiah Stewart!
