VIDEO: Joe Rogan and Belal Muhammad are going VIRAL for making huge blunder regarding fighter names
Joe Rogan and guest Belal Muhammad cause hilarious snub on JRE episode; call veteran welterweight Matt Brown by whole other name.

Being immortal is a hard gig. Ask ‘The Immortal’ Matt Brown… His long years in UFC competition and 19-year pro MMA career cumulated a stout 24-19 MMA, and 17-13 UFC record. Still, he isn’t immune to being forgotten. Joe Rogan and Belal Muhammad did just that, subjecting Brown to oblivion. What’s hilariously worse, they replaced him — with Mike Brown!
The veteran podcaster sat down with new champ Belal Muhammad on his JRE MMA Show Episode #162. The Palestinian is on a hot streak with his UFC 304 title win. Muhammad weighed in on a variety of stats, streaks, skids, and record-setters within the division. Soon the topic shifted to the 170-pound veteran Matt Brown. Brown faced Stephen Thompson at the UFC 145 late prelims at State Farm Arena, Atlanta, GA.
Yeah, I don't think 'Wonderboy' ever avoided anybody like that…I just think he was late to the game, you know, …And he was training a lot with Weidman who's an awesome wrestler. But, he got, like, …his first loss in UFC was Mike Brown…Mike Brown just mauled him…just mauled him.Joe Rogan via The JRE MMA Show Episode #162 (?: PowerfulJRE; @joerogan on YT)
‘Wonderboy’ lost a unanimous nod to Matt Brown on April 21, 2012 (30–27, 29–27, and 30–27). Joe Rogan weighed in on how the Team Upstate Karate striker was a later bloomer in the skill-to-skill striking game. Both he and Muhammad agreed that they wouldn’t want to face retired UFC featherweight and WEC Champ Mike Brown in their sophomore outing. Oh, wait – they meant ‘Matt’ Brown; that’s where the massive snub and dub comes in!
Brown is considerably an all-time welterweight G.O.A.T. candidate. The Team Immortal Martial Arts fighter’s war with Erick Silva at UFC Fight Night 40 (May 10, 2014) ranks in the top 5 welterweight scraps in global listings like USASports Today and sportsnet.ca. He has since retired from active competition, but maybe in hindsight, ring monikers like ‘Remember the Name’ would have been better. Oh, wait! That didn’t help Belal Muhammad either.
Joe Rogan once also didn’t ‘Remember the Name’
Longtime UFC color commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan isn’t without his funny follies. His info snub and butchering names are a global matter. Some aspects, obviously take a more dire shape. Case in point, he came under fire for clinical misinformation during the global pandemic phase. As a result of which, his Spotify-based pod show saw many boycotts.
His hot take on the January 6th insurrection Capitol attack being a false flag was another. However, his butchering of Umar Nurmagomedov’s name to close their UFC 272 pay-per-view interview was on a lighter note. Back before the all-serious cancel culture, Rogan and his errors were fun tidbits. The Mike Goldberg-Rogan dynamic of calling out “Black guy” Jon Jones vs. “White guy” Andre Gusmao at UFC 87: Seek and Destroy was a hilariously famous affair.
As it turns out, Rogan has indulged in many such errors on and off desk duty. However, in an edition of his JRE MMA Show (Joe Rogan Experience) podcast, he forgot then-surging welterweight Belal Muhammad.
Look...look at this card. This is a good card for a Thursday night... Alan Jouban... And I don't know this gentleman -- ...Belal Muhammad? Do you know him? 'Remember the Name' is his nickname. Oh, come on! You motherfu*kers with your nicknames... 'Remember the Name,' get out of here, dude.Joe Rogan in a since-deleted episode of The JRE MMA Show
On a 2016 JRE episode, Rogan and then-UFC HW Brendan Schaub discussed the UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs. Alvarez fight card. The oncoming card during UFC’s International Fight Week marked Muhammad’s promotional debut. Muhammad would also make his debut on the platform later, on the JRE MMA Show Episode #134. It’s some solace to know Mike… uh, Matt Brown isn’t the only victim here.
