Sparks star Kelsey Plum did not waste any time in showcasing her feelings towards the fans waiting outside their team hotel room for autographs.

The Los Angeles Sparks have had a frustrating start to their WNBA season this year. They haven’t found any momentum this season, on or off the court. Notably, their star Kelsey Plum has also had a mediocre start to the season, not performing as per her standards lately. The club is still searching for momentum after losing to the Seattle Storm on June 17 and now has a dismal 4-9 record.
The recent headlines, however, focused on something else: experienced guard and two-time WNBA winner Kelsey Plum, rather than improving things with a strong performance. A fan approached Plum for an autograph outside the Sparks team hotel in a video that went viral very fast. It began normally, but once the fan claimed to have located her by seeing the team bus outside, the atmosphere shifted.
Don’t y’all find that kind of weird? I’m really turned off right now, I’m not going to lie.
Kelsey Plum told the fan

Even though she signed the trade card the fan gave her, she made it obvious that she didn’t like the approach with her direct and frank tone. Despite the considerate act of signing the card, Plum’s response generated a lot of conflicting views on the internet. Some slandered Plum for reacting in that manner towards the fans.
However, some fans felt her reactions were justified, mainly because people nowadays take autographs from players and sell them on various online portals to actual fans. These people are not fans, they are resellers, and players know it. Plum may have reacted in that manner because she thought they weren’t her actual fans, but she did sign the autograph.
With Plum’s level of fame, it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. Plum, who has previously gone viral for off-court photos, typically presents a tough and enjoyable persona. However, several people didn’t feel comfortable at this time.
Kelsey Plum had great words for her upcoming rival Caitlin Clark in the WNBA
The Indiana Fever and the Las Vegas Aces were two WNBA teams that made some of the most interesting offseason moves. While the Fever added veterans to their talented roster of youngsters, the Sparks did the same. The Sparks took the same approach by bolstering their core group of young, talented players with veteran standout Kelsey Plum.

Now, ahead of facing the Fever and their star Caitlin Clark, the Sparks veteran, Plum had nothing but words of appreciation for the superstar. In an interview with WNBA great Lisa Leslie for her podcast Between the Lines, on June 19, Plum discussed what it’s like to play against Caitlin Clark.
She brings the show. Literally, with her game, and then also with the fans on the road.
Kelsey Plum said
Plum went on to tell a saga about an optimistic encounter she had at a pub during one of the Aces’ home matches versus Indiana last year with a Fever fan wearing a Clark shirt. Her dad was wearing Plum’s jersey, and the two engaged in some polite trash talk. The June 26 matchup between Plum and Clark is guaranteed to draw a lot of attention.
The Sparks are dealing with major injuries this season, including their star Kelsey Plum
Early in the WNBA season, the Sparks are still dealing with several ailments. On Monday’s injury report, Kelsey Plum was added to the list of players who were not available, while Cameron Brink, Rae Burrell, Odyssey Sims, and Julie Allemand were already out.
Head coach Lynne Roberts gave a brief update on Plum’s injury at her pregame news conference prior to Tuesday’s matchup with the Storm, but it didn’t really help to clear things up.
It’s a lower leg issue. She had imaging done Sunday and, at this point, we don’t know. One thing about KP is she does rehab and recovery and she’s so tuned into her body, she’ll know when she’s ready to go and she’s not ready tonight.

#0 – Odyssey Sims – NWT – Personal Reasons
#10 – Kelsey Plum – OUT – Left Lower Leg
#12 – Rae Burrell – OUT – Right Knee
#20 – Julie Allemand – NWT – Overseas Commitment
#22 – Cameron Brink – OUT – Left Knee
line for Plum’s return. She is recording a team-high 36 minutes per match and has started every game for the Sparks. It will be difficult for Roberts and the Sparks to replace her playing time while still winning games because of the team’s limited choices.
