On the first night back to work after a long and productive first ASW with a tournament format, the Los Angeles Lakers matched up against the Charlotte Hornets. Despite being favored by as many as 13 points to win this battle prior to the competition, the Lakers lost at home in a hard-fought 100-97 ending.
However, one moment during the game possibly added more fuel to the ongoing rift between LeBron James and Canadian rapper Drake. When the DJ blasted Kendrick Lamar‘s “tv off” from his latest hit album, GNX, James couldn’t help but move to the beat.
The Crypto Arena erupted when the King started to do a little slow-mo shimmy. Throughout the 10-minute clip, LBJ kept his poker face, trying hard not to smile at the lyrics, “mustard…. turn his tv off” as the thought of the OVO label founder crossed his mind.

This is the second time since James’ All-Star Game snub that the 40-year-old basketball player has taken shots at his former friend. Previously, just a few days ago, a clip surfaced of LeBron James working out with his daughter while listening to Kendrick. It’s clear whose side Bron is on, and it’s also fun to witness an athlete be a part of one of the biggest rap beefs in hip-hop to date.
Now, James is clapping back at the battle rapper, singer, and actor after Drake took shots at him in his single, “Fighting Irish Freestyle.” Additionally, Drake recently tweaked the lyrics of his hit “Nonstop” during a live performance—from “How I go from 6 to 23 like I’m LeBron?” to “How I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man.”
LeBron James’ father-daughter workout is going viral as he vibes to Kendrick Lamar
LeBron James’s daughter, Zhuri James, has her own respectable following of 202K subscribers on YouTube. Her channel, @All Things Zhuri, features her alongside her parents, siblings, and her pet French bulldog. However, the 10-year-old hasn’t posted in the last four years. Nonetheless, she went viral when James shared his heartwarming workout routine with his daughter.
But there’s a twist—he was bumping Kendrick Lamar‘s explicit version of his songs “Compton” and “m.A.A.d city” from good kid, m.A.A.d city in the background.

Who knows, maybe that’s LBJ’s secret to eternal youth — rap music! Even at the age of 40, LeBron James has already recorded 10 triple-doubles in the 2024-25 NBA regular season. And now, with a new superstar by his side to take the weight off his shoulders — Luka Doncic — expectations are at their highest on the West Coast.
Wednesday’s game marked the third time Luka Magic and LeBron James played together as teammates. This game also saw a relaxation in the Slovenian’s time restrictions, from 23-24 minutes in the previous two outings to 33 minutes against the Hornets.
