Along with Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and Stephen Curry, LeBron James, 40, is regarded as one of the best basketball players of all time. However, he also has a passion for football, or soccer as he may refer to it. James reportedly owns a stake in the famous British soccer club, Liverpool FC.
As an NBA journalist, Mike Trudell approached James for his interview, the Los Angeles Lakers star reacted with disgust. Mostly because the journalist was wearing a Manchester United jacket, another soccer club from England and Liverpool FC’s biggest rivals. James’ reaction did make rounds in and around the NBA and soccer community.
That’s a horrible jacket by the way. Oh my God, that is a horrible jacket!
LeBron James told Mike Trudell
He then made a joke about ripping the jacket off and Trudell found the interaction amusing. This was probably because James, the highest-paid NBA player, together with his corporation partner Maverick Carter, paid $6.5 million for a minority investment in Premier League leaders Liverpool in 2011. It is estimated that James owns about 2% of the team.
Ever since James who is on a 2-year, $101,355,998 contract with the Lakers invested in the soccer team, he has been a long-time admirer of the English side. According to Liverpool.com, he went to Anfield, Liverpool’s home stadium, and called it one of the ‘greatest moments’ of his life. This year, James will be a bit more ecstatic as Liverpool are leading in the EPL and are on the verge of winning their 20th English title.
Former NBA player opened up on LeBron James’ injury concerns
After recovering from a groin injury, LeBron James has played only four games. However, he has not been playing like his older self since returning from injury. James, 40, is having health issues, based on veteran NBA player Kendrick Perkins who made his opinions clear on a recent segment of the NBA on ESPN show.
The Lakers are in trouble. … The most important thing LeBron James is not healthy, LeBron James is not healthy. I think he’s probably about 70-75%. Again, we’re talking about a time where you’re supposed to be peaky, going into the postseason, and the Lakers are trending backward.

James has had a mixed effect on the court since his comeback. The Lakers lost to the Chicago Bulls 119-117 on Thursday night after being outscored by 10 points. Also, they were outscored by 17 points against the Orlando Magic. A +5 showing against Indiana was the sole outlier. With a 44-29 record and a 1-3 record in those games, Los Angeles is now ranked as the fourth spot in the Western Conference.
Stephen A. Smith blasts off on LeBron James’ recent comments
There has been a lot of discussion and controversy among fans and media people about LeBron James’ remarks that NBA coverage tends to focus more on drama and off-court antics than the actual game. Stephen A. Smith, a prominent pundit on ESPN, is among those who disagree with LeBron’s statements. Smith reminded James of that in a recent First Take episode.
Kendrick Perkins has been on the record saying he considers LeBron James the GOAT. Kendrick Perkins says a negative word about LeBron James and LeBron James blocks Kendrick Perkins.
Stephen A. Smith said
Smith with his recent assessments tried to imply that James is a ‘hypocrite’ and changes his stance if things arent going his way. However, Perkins made things clear towards Smith that James ‘unfollowed’ him rather than blocking him on social media.
Without a question, James is one of the best performers of all time. However, the spotlight also brings with it harsh criticism and scrutiny. Most people would argue that it just comes with the territory, but he could think it’s unfair.
