LeBron James and AJ Brown

LeBron James had ample time to watch the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl 59 game in New Orleans on Sunday. This is mostly because the Los Angeles Lakers are not playing a game. Certain social media posts on the Super Bowl, specifically the Philadelphia Eagles, were shared by the future Basketball Hall of Famer.

James’ “Silencer” celebration was used by Eagles wide receiver AJ Brown to celebrate a touchdown late in the second quarter. The Eagles lead the two-time Super Bowl title defenders Kansas City Chiefs 24-0 at the first half thanks to the score. Not only that, Brown’s “The Silencer” celebration also caught the attention of the Lakers superstar.

LeBron James was left ecstatic after watching Brown do his celebration. James posted a picture of Brown’s celebration on Instagram with the message, “That Silencer was on POINT!!” During the celebration, you raise each knee one at a time while pushing your hands down. In 2014, James began doing it while playing for the Miami Heat.

Despite not being selected for the Pro Bowl in the 2024 NFL season, Brown is still one of Philadelphia’s most vital offensive weapons. Through 13 games during the 2024 regular season, the 27-year-old wide receiver amassed 1,079 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 67 grabs and 97 targets. In addition, he stepped up his game against the Kansas City Chiefs in the final showdown on Sunday.

Another NFL star had paid tribute to LeBron James this season

On December 17, 2024, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Chicago Bears. Vikings star wide receiver Justin Jefferson starred for his side on Monday Night Football. Although Jefferson’s seven catches for 73 yards and a touchdown demonstrated his prowess, his on-field performance wasn’t the only thing that caught both the NBA and the NFL communities’ attention.

Jefferson created a memorable moment that reverberated throughout sports. This was when he combined his famous “Griddy” dance with LeBron James’ trademark “silencer” gesture to celebrate his touchdown. In addition, this surely caught James’ attention. James wrote on X, “This went so CRAZY!!!!!! Jetts to DOPE! Young King.”

The respect that the different sports leagues stars have for one another is demonstrated by Jefferson’s homage. Stars from both sports, the NBA and NFL often pay tribute to each other at times via celebrations.
