JJ Redick claps back at LeBron James for moustache
The Los Angeles Lakers locker room is in high spirits. Not only are the Lakers winning games, but the team seems to be having fun on and off the court. After the Lakers’ victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, HC JJ Redick addressed the elephant in the room for the team – criticism of his moustache by LeBron James.
In a behind-the-scenes look into the Lakers locker room, the rookie HC revealed how LeBron James had been critical of Redick’s attempts to grow a moustache. However, as the ultimate competitor, JJ Redick was not one to back down, and he promptly brought out the ultimate diss – James’ iconic moustache from 2015, which had NBA fans in a chokehold.

In a bid to one-up James, Redick pulled out archival footage of the Lakers star rocking a moustache in 2015 during the Cleveland Cavaliers championship run. Redick took his time to build up to the joke, but as soon as the punchline of James’ photo in a punchline hit, the entire Lakers locker room broke into laughter.
LeBron James couldn’t hold back his laughter either, justifying him growing out his moustache as a part of the annual ‘Movember’ movement. Either way, all the jokes seem to have been in good spirits as the Lakers continue to turn a corner for their season, winning their fourth game in a row after defeating the Charlotte Hornets on Monday night.
LeBron James was a beast in his moustache era
The 2015-16 NBA season is iconic for a number of reasons. It was the year the Warriors set the 73-9 record for most wins in NBA regular season history and the year the Cleveland Cavaliers mounted their historic 3-1 comeback to win their first NBA Championship, led by none other than LeBron James.
However, what is often forgotten amidst the major events that took place during that season, is the dominance of LeBron James while playing with a moustache. Between 7 games during his stretch with a moustache in November 2015, James was a beast on the floor, averaging stunning numbers of 30.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists.

During this stretch, James also shot 53.4% from the field and 43.8% from three on 4.6 attempts a game. These were all significant improvements across the board, as he averaged 25.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 6.8 assists over the course of the entire 2015-16 regular season and shot a lowly 30.9% from three.
While this is in no way a call for LeBron James to bring back the moustache, as the ageing star continues to see through the twilight of his career, perhaps NBA fans would not mind a rewind back to the 2015 version of the moustached James.
