Dallas Mavericks rookie Jamarion Sharp goes viral as he dominates against the Utah Jazz in a preseason game
Jamarion Sharpe turns heads in a dominant preseason display
The NBA preseason hasn’t been too kind to the Dallas Mavericks as they remain winless after two games, including a recent 107-102 loss to the Utah Jazz. However, fans have found reason to be happy due to the standout performance of rookie Jamarion Sharp who is a largely unknown player.
A viral clip has appeared that showed Jamarion Sharp dominating against the Utah Jazz. He currently stands at 7’5”, which makes him taller than San Antonio Spurs’ reigning Rookie of the Year star Victor Wembanyama.
Fans will love that he finished the game with six points, five rebounds, and an impressive five blocks, all in just 12 minutes coming off the bench. Those following the undrafted player’s career will remember that he played for Western Kentucky and Ole Miss, where he averaged 6.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks over 95 games.
Furthermore, he got rewarded with a one-year deal with the Mavs this offseason, although there are suggestions he may have signed an Exhibit 10 deal. This would allow the Mavs to use him primarily for G-League assignments, where he could further develop.
Jamarion Sharpe aside, Luka Doncic rated highly by NBA General Managers
While the NBA preseason is on in preparation for the new season, the 2024-25 NBA GM Survey has been released. The survey saw Dallas Mavericks’ star Luka Doncic, get voted as the league’s best lead initiator, ahead of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Stephen Curry, and Jalen Brunson.

SG — Anthony Edwards
SF — Jayson Tatum
PF — Giannis Antetokounmpo

In addition to being voted the best point guard, Doncic was also voted the player who forces opposing coaches to make the most adjustments due to his high basketball IQ, ball-handling, and vision. Also, despite primarily playing point guard, Doncic was also tied for second-best small forward in the NBA, alongside Kevin Durant and LeBron James, and behind only Jayson Tatum.
The Dallas Mavericks have a lot of expectations this season and the addition of veteran Klay Thompson from the Warriors only adds to the pressure. Fans will be excited nonetheless, as a healthy Doncic teaming up with his deadly strike partner, Kyrie Irving and now with a triple threat in Thompson would see them make a deep run into next season’s playoffs. Their season starts with a visit by the San Antonio Spurs on the 24th of October.
