The New York Giants are picking third in the upcoming NFL Draft after a disastrous 2024 season. The Giants held the illustrious first pick before a late win pushed them to the third position – they are expected to pick Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders.

The Buffaloes, coached by father Deion Sanders, came close to making the College Football Playoffs until suffering a couple of losses late in the season. Initially, Sanders was expected to go for the first pick but Titans, who’ll draft No.1 overall, aren’t in dire need of a quarterback. The upcoming draft is highly criticized for its poor showing of quarterbacks – certain analysts and critics claim that the top picks could definitely have been drafted behind Bo Nix in 2024.

Additionally, NFL insider Tom Pelissero claimed that Shedeur Sanders is ‘lucky to be in weak QB draft class’ since scouts are riding low on Sanders.

In a media availability with the reporters, Malik Nabers, the Giants’ last year pick expressed his honest opinions on Shedeurs potentially joining the Big Blue. Nabers stated that he would be willing to evaluate college quarterbacks if requested by the organization to provide his opinion on potential franchise candidates.

However, he declined to comment specifically on whether he believes Sanders would be a good fit for the New York team.

“No comment. Yeah, I’ll watch film for them if they call me up.

Nabers said.

Meanwhile, his teammate Tyrone Tracy had some words for what he expects from the team quarterback.

You gotta be a leader. But, again efficiency, ball security. Make sure you be smart with your ball. Also, just being a good quarterback.

Tracy said.

The New York Giants are heading into the new season with the same head coach and general manager which hasn’t went down well with the fans. Although, on paper, it seems a good quarterback could solve most of their problems, it might not be the case. It wasn’t Jayden Daniels alone who turned around the Washington Commanders but the new helm guiding Daniels to change their fortunes.

Joe Schoen broke silence on Shedeur Sanders potentially landing in New York

Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders has emerged as a potential draft option for the New York Giants this year. Speculation about the Giants selecting Sanders grew after he shared a photo of Giants-themed cleats and was spotted playing catch with rookie receiver Malik Nabers in New York City last December. Well, the same Nabers who has no comment on Sanders anymore.

However, Giants general manager Joe Schoen dismissed rumors of any early discussions with Sanders’ representatives, stating on Monday.

We haven’t had any conversations with his camp about that. We don’t have control over any of that.

Schoen clarified.

Schoen also reacted to Sanders playing catch with Nabers during the time he was in New York City for the Heisman Trophy ceremony.

That one caught me off guard. That was cool. Unexpected. I had not seen that before, an NFL receiver and a quarterback prospect playing catch down in New York City. That was interesting.

Schoen said.

Joe Schoen admitted that they will be looking at any opportunity to upgrade the quarterback room heading into the new season. Currently, Tommy DeVito is the only quarterback who’s signed for 2025.

Furthermore, owner John Mara also iterated the thoughts in a statement of his own. Mara stated that the team’s top priority for the upcoming offseason is securing a quarterback for the future, whether through the draft or acquiring a veteran, leaving the final decision to the team’s leadership.
