Stephen Curry's preseason game was preceded by a battle between NBA TV host Chris Miles and former basketball coach Sam Mitchell

In any sporting league, pregame, halftime and postgame shows try to hype up or give insights to the game. In basketball, Inside the NBA has been the primary go-to show for fans who want that entertainment. But NBA TV got into the act when host Chris Miles faced off against former basketball star and coach Sam Mitchell.

The pregame show started with both set to talk about the preseason game between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings. Just as Miles was about to kick it off, he said:

I’m surprised coaches get a paycheck for this show. Maybe you should do this pro-bono, my friend.

That seemed to tick off the former Toronto Raptors head coach as he replied:

The last time I looked at my check, it’s pretty close. I’m sorry, did you rip your beach house out down in Florida during the Hurricane? How about your town house in Buckhead? You gotta stop messing with me on national TV. Do I need to give out the address? Because you’re not at home right now.

Sam Mitchell fired back

Mitchell was ticked off by Chris Miles trying to poke fun at his expense, especially as he has been out of a coaching job for more than five years.

That can have a significant impact on his income, as opposed to being a guest contributor on TV. A guest contributor will never get paid as much as a regular analyst or host. Which is why he took the opportunity to get back at Miles.

He first called out the NBA TV host’s home in Florida. Then proceeded to reveal another property owned by Miles in Buckhead, Georgia, suggesting that the host was well off and has the paycheck to match his assets.

Sam Mitchell deals final blow on NBA TV host Chris Miles

When it seemed like Sam Mitchell won that initial round, they switched to the game. But while Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors were being introduced to the crowd, Mitchell had one last line. He went on to reveal Chris Miles’ address.

That was the final blow as it seemed that Miles tried to deflect it back at the former NBA star. But the 61-year-old wanted none of it and threw it right back at him. That sealed the deal and left the NBA TV host dumbstruck.

He quickly moved on to the topic of the game to avoid the conversation from continuing. But Sam Mitchell had the last laugh. It might be a lesson for Miles to avoid picking on seasoned veterans, especially with conversations surrounding money.
