Djokovic has faced several physical problems in 2025. During the Australian Open, he struggled with a knee injury that affected his quarterfinal match against Carlos Alcaraz. Although he won that match, he could not maintain his level beyond the first set against Alexander Zverev.
His struggles continued in February and early March, leading to early exits at the Qatar Open and Indian Wells. However, the Miami Open has given him some hope for a stronger season ahead.
Novak Djokovic handed a big fine in Spain
Tennis great Novak Djokovic has once again faced issues with the Marbella local council over his mansion in southern Spain. The tennis star and his wife, Jelena, own a luxury villa in Costa del Sol, worth around £8.5 million. They often choose to stay there with their children, Stefan and Tara, rather than in Monte Carlo or New York.

The mansion is grand, featuring nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms, an indoor pool, a cinema room, a gym, and a spa with a sauna and Turkish bath. There is also a games room with billiards and table football. In 2022, the Djokovic family started major renovations, but they reportedly failed to follow local building regulations.
According to Marbella24horas, they made changes without the proper permits, resulting in fines. The renovations included removing basement parking, adding a third floor, and building a porch and extra bathroom. These modifications broke rules on building height and boundary limits.
The first fine was issued on August 6, 2024, and another inspection took place in October. However, the required paperwork was still not submitted. On February 13, 2025, Djokovic received a second fine of €5,000. If the issue is not resolved, he could face up to 12 more fines.
Novak Djokovic and Jakub Mensik to rewrite tennis history books in Miami
Serbian star Novak Djokovic and Jakub Mensik have been in top form at the Miami Open and will now face each other in the final. Djokovic, aiming for his 100th career title, has been watched by Juan Martin del Potro at the tournament. The 37-year-old, seeded fourth, has defeated players like Sebastian Korda and Lorenzo Musetti on his way to the final.

Mensik, just 19 years old, has also impressed with big wins. He has beaten Arthur Fils and Indian Wells champion Jack Draper. Their final will make history, as their age gap of 18 years and 102 days will be the largest in an ATP Masters 1000 final. This record surpasses the 16-year gap between Andre Agassi and Rafael Nadal in the 2005 Montreal final.
Djokovic is nearly twice Mensik’s age, giving him the advantage of experience. However, the young Czech has nothing to lose, while all the pressure will be on Djokovic. The match is expected to be an exciting battle between youth and experience.
They have played once before, with Djokovic winning their 2024 quarter-final match in Shanghai. Since then, Mensik has improved, reaching a career-high ranking of 45 in February and defeating Casper Ruud at the 2025 Australian Open. Djokovic, a former world No. 1, will be focused on securing his 100th ATP title rather than ranking points.
