The night at Clash at the Castle was perhaps one of the most important nights of Piper Niven‘s career. She wrestled Bayley in a singles match for the WWE Women’s Championship in front of her home fans in Scotland. The 33-year-old star gave it her all during the battle, but The Role Model retained her title with a veteran move.
After a heartbreaking loss in her home country, Piper Niven wasn’t rightly in a good mood. However, fellow Scottish wrestlers and the newly crowned Women’s Tag Team Champion, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn couldn’t see her that way. They came there to cheer her up, as all of them shared hugs in a wholesome interaction.
Speaking about the match, the former Doudrop was always a powerful force who easily thwarted Bayley around. However, in the final moments of her match, The Role Model showed why she was honored as a veteran of the business when she picked up the win with a roll-up pin. Interestingly, some fans even blamed Chelsea Green, who tried to distract the champ with a luchador mask but ended up distracting her friend instead.
Meanwhile, The Unholy Union shocked the WWE Universe by winning the Women’s Tag Team Titles. Isla Dawn showed a great sense of in-ring awareness in a Triple Threat match, which allowed her to pin Shayna Baszler and win the match. It was the first major title win for them since coming to the main roster.
Triple H praised Piper Niven for her performance in the title match at Clash at the Castle
Piper Niven didn’t just impress WWE fans, but also CCO Triple H. Hunter was full of praise for the 33-year-old in the post-show press conference after Clash at the Castle PLE. In his opinion, this was the best performance of her career.
When asked about her performance in front of her home fans, he stated that Niven exceeded his expectations. The 14-time world champion added that she showed up in a way that she needed to and in a way he knew she could. Hunter said that now it’s on her and them to capitalize on the momentum she’s gathered.
It will be interesting to see where the former Women’s Tag Team Champion goes from here. She has already proven what she can do as a singles competitor against Bayley. It wouldn’t be a surprise if WWE breaks the partnership between her and Chelsea Green soon.
