Saquon Barkley does Stephen Curry-inspired "night-night"

In Sunday’s conference finals game between the rivals, the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles, NBA fans witnessed a familiar sight. With Super Bowl LIX on the line, millions of eyeballs where on the game and a special moment occurred in third quarter. A signature motion popularized by NBA star Stephen Curry was mimicked by Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

After stepping into the end zone for his third touchdown of the night, Snake-quon hit his opponents with the renowned “Night-Night” celebration, famously used by none other than the greatest shooter basketball has ever seen. Sealing the deal with a 55-23 rout, Barkley ran through the Commanders with an impressive 7.9 yards per carry, totaling 118 yards on 15 attempts. This spectacular performance by the 27-year-old running back undoubtedly earned him the right to emulate the “Baby-Faced Assassin.”

This is Chef Curry’s signature move, performed mostly after hitting a deep dagger three-pointer from downtown late in the fourth quarter during crucial possessions. It’s a taunting yet iconic gesture directed at his opponents, basically telling them to head home and hit the bed. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and indeed, this imitation by Barkley highlights the influence of Stephen Curry within the sports domain and pop culture.

Besides being name-dropped in some of the most famous rap lyrics, Curry has remained a crucial figure within the hip-hop community, especially after dapping up Canadian rapper Drake amidst his beef with King James.

Draymond Green reacts to Saquon Barkley’s “Night-Night” celebration

On the Golden State Warriors off night, the veteran big man Draymond Green was on his couch, feet up, enjoying the gritty football rivalry on his big screen. When Green noticed the Eagles’ running back do the “Night-Night” celebration in the third quarter of the NFC Championship Game, he took to Twitter to give his reaction.

“Saquon with the Night Night! Tough”– Draymond Green tweeted

Green and Curry have been by each other’s side since 2012. Together, they created one of the best and only real dynasties in modern NBA history. Winning four NBA championship titles, these two have formed a bond akin to brotherhood. So, it didn’t come as a surprise that Draymond Green himself recently dropped the “Night-Night” celebration after a game-closing jam.

After a strong start to the 2024-25 season, the Golden State Warriors are struggling to find the right and effective mixture within the lineup. After losing to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Warriors are currently 22-23, which puts them in 11th place out of 15 teams in the West. Next, they will host the Utah Jazz at the Chase Center, who are dead last in the Western Conference.
