Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr

Steve Kerr seems to have reinstilled life back into the Golden State Warriors after a dismal season last year. The Warriors, led by Kerr and Stephen Curry, finished as an underwhelming 10th seed in the Western Conference last year.

However, after a summer of overhaul and change, Kerr seems to be injecting positive team chemistry into the squad with his own on-court antics. A fan recorded a video of Kerr lighting up the arena, not with his coaching, but with his shooting.

With Stephen Curry and the rest of the Warriors looking on, Steve Kerr casually attempted a shot from half-court and drained it, leaving the team in splits. Curry and teammate Draymond Green marveled at the shot as Kerr proceeded to exit the practice arena, waving to fans on his way out.

As difficult as the shot may look, this is not a rare occurrence for most Warriors players and fans. Kerr, of course, was an elite shooter himself during his playing days, holding the NBA record for the highest career three-point percentage at 45.4%. Kerr and Curry would often engage in shootouts and free throw competitions in practice early on in the Steve Kerr era at Golden State.

Steve Kerr recalls eye-opening shot by Stephen Curry

Over the years, Steve Kerr and Stephen Curry have developed a close relationship. The player-coach tandem has achieved a mammoth 4x NBA Titles together. But the duo didn’t always have blind faith in each other. In a 2021 interview, Steve Kerr revealed the moment that made him realize that no shot was ever a ‘bad shot’ for Curry.

Kerr detailed a moment during his first season as Head Coach of the Warriors that changed his outlook on Steph Curry. The moment occurred during a regular season match between the Warriors and the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2014-15 season.

There’s a famous shot of me on the sidelines against the Clippers where Steph dribbles about 72 times around his back through traffic, & shoots a fadeaway 28-footer. Right about that time.

Steve Kerr said in an interview in 2021

The rest, of course, is history. Steph Curry would go on to win his first MVP award and his first championship in the same season, marking the beginning of the eventual Warriors Dynasty. It remains to be seen if the Warriors have one last dance left in them this season to make a run for the NBA championship.
