Golden State Warriors’ head coach, Steve Kerr, and its franchise player, Stephen Curry, share one of the tightest coach-athlete bonds we have seen in a while in sports. Together, these two were able to create the last dynasty of the modern era of basketball—so far.

During the last summer, the coach-player duo united under one banner and one goal: Team USA’s continued dominance in the Olympics. However, one moment in particular is going viral. Soon after, Steve Kerr approached Curry, embraced him with a huge, heartwarming hug, and lauded his player for his clutch genes

Steve Kerr to Stephen Curry

Obviously, this isn’t the first instance when Curry earned the respect of his coach. The nine-time NBA champion, both as a player and a coach, recently remarked—rather proudly—that Chef Curry is the face of their franchise, and he loves the idea of being a Warrior for life.

What’s really startling is that, despite being in the league for around 16 years, this was Curry‘s first outing with Team USA and his first trip to the Olympics, believe it or not. Despite a slow start, his clutch performances in the semifinal and gold medal game underscored his reputation as one of the greatest shooters in basketball history.

After starting the season on a high note, winning 12 of their first 15 games. However, since than they have slipped to 10th seed in West, currently with a 28-27 record. When the reporter asked whether it’s even possible to have championship hopes on the back of an aging superstar, here’s what Kerr had to say:

I think the answer to that is Yes, It’s realistic. This is a once in a generation player and athlete…. it’s our job to put him in a position where we’re in the playoffs and give him a chance with the best group around him.

Steve Kerr responded

Even at the age of 36, the Baby-Faced Assassin continues to produce at an elite level. This season, he is averaging 23.4 points per game, draining 39% of his shots from beyond the arc. Additionally, he is dishing out 6.1 assists and recording a steal per game.

Next Friday, the Warriors’ squad will head to Sacramento with their latest addition, Jimmy Butler. Expect the new GSW’s to steal this tightly contested bout.
