Royal Challengers Bengaluru icon Virat Kohli interestingly picked young RCB teammate Swastik Chikara as the player whom he does not want to share the room with, seemingly expressing his annoyance with the 20-year-old. Chikara has been seen following Kohli, both on and off the pitch.
Swastik Chikara has been enjoying his time at RCB, despite having failed to make it into the playing XI. For the 20-year-old top-order batter, it also marks his second season in the IPL, having been with Delhi Capitals in the past. However, the Ghaziabad-born batter, has benefited from sharing the dressing room with the likes of Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Phil Salt, among others.
Swastik Chikara had previously opened up about his admiration for RCB star and the IPL’s highest run-getter, Virat Kohli. He admitted to having found a big brother in Kohli, and is always seen tailing the 36-year-old, in the RCB dressing room. Kohli seems to be a bit annoyed with the way Chikara keeps following him inside the dressing room, a fact that he openly addressed in a recent conversation.

In a recent interaction with the media, the 36-year-old veteran IPL star was questioned about his preferred roommates from RCB, for the ongoing 2025 IPL season. Kohli addressed the query by surprisingly noting that he does not wish to share a room with the young Swastik Chikara. He jokingly added that the 20-year-old does not leave him alone, and follows him everywhere.
I wouldn’t say it’s Swastik Chikara. Because he doesn’t leave me alone, so, definitely not him.

Moreover, the Indian international showed interest in bunking with RCB wicket-keeper and 2025 arrival, Jitesh Sharma. Kohli noted that Sharma hasn’t opened up much with him, and hoped to see the funnier and jolly side of the 31-year-old Vidarbha cricketer. Jitesh Sharma has been a revelation for RCB this season, having been bought by the franchise for a whopping INR 11 crores at the Mega Auction.
But one guy I think is really funny, but he’s not opened up with me properly, is Jitesh [Sharma]. I would want to see that really fun, raw side of him because I can see it in his eyes, he’s got that mischief about him.
Virat Kohli added
The 31-year-old is impressive with his ability to play effective cameos, finish games, and keep wickets as well, making him an excellent utility player. In 10 matches this season, Jitesh Sharma has scored 121 runs at an average of 30.25, and a strike rate of 147.56, hitting 12 fours and seven sixes. Meanwhile, coming back to Chikara, the 20-year-old will be hoping to make the cut, when RCB take on CSK, next.
Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru have been enjoying a promising run in the 2025 IPL season, as they remain among the top four on the table. RCB are aiming to secure a playoff place, when they next face out-of-contention Chennai at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, on 3rd May.
Virat Kohli breaks silence on his decision to retire from T20Is last year, following World Cup glory
Indian cricket star Virat Kohli finally opened up about his decision to retire from T20Is last year, at the end of the Men in Blues’ triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup campaign. Kohli called time on his T20I career at the final win against South Africa, alongside skipper Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja.

While many including ex-Indian cricketer Suresh Raina deemed Kohli’s decision to retire as ‘too early’, the veteran Indian batter explained the rationale behind it. Kohli noted that he wanted to make space for the younger bunch of T20 cricketers in the Indian team. Moreover, he added that the youngsters would need a two-year cycle to evolve and handle pressure, in order to play at the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup.
The decision was taken purely understanding that there is a new set of players who are more than ready and they need time, they need a 2-year cycle to evolve, handle pressure…
