Daniil Medvedev vs Nikoloz Basilashvili: Preview
Daniil Medvedev has suffered this season due to not being able to play at Wimbledon (Russians were banned for political reasons). However, the former World No.1 barring a few niggles has been in good touch. His impressive performances this season include a final showing at the Australian Open where he lost to Rafael Nadal despite leading for most of the encounter. In his last tournament at Astana, Medvedev retired owing to injury after losing the second set to Novak Djokovic, who went on to say that the Russian was the better player out of the two for the duration of the match.
Meanwhile, Nikoloz Basilashvili, once ranked as high as 16th in the world, hasn’t obviously had great results this season but the hard-court surface is where he had his best career results and also where he has competed the most in terms of ATP matches.

Daniil Medvedev vs Nikoloz Basilashvili: Prediction
Despite Basilashvili’s unrelenting ability to serve big and produce some big groundstrokes, Medvedev has both enough firepower and agility in his play from the back of the court and has a decent service return as well, enough to counter the Georgian’s game.
Basilashvili might win a set considering how Medvedev has struggled in recent times with injury. However, the Russian should be fully fit by now considering the nature of the injury he suffered during the recent match against Djokovic, and would be able to win in the third set quite easily.
