This season has been a mixed bag for Hubert Hurkacz so far. He won one ATP singles title but two men’s doubles titles in 2022. He started his season by featuring in the ATP Cup where he played for Poland. He then participated in the Australian Open but was defeated in the second round by none other than Adrian Mannarino. He subsequently participated in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships where he looked well. He was defeated by eventual champion Andrey Rublev in the final match of the tournament.

At the Indian Wells Open, The Polish star again lost out to Andrey Rublev in the quarter-final round of the tournament. That’s not all, he stunned the world by defeating 2021 US Open champion Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-final round match of the Miami Open but lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals. But he won the men’s doubles title in the same tournament with American John Isner.

The current World No.11 then participated in the Monte-Carlo Masters. He was defeated by Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-final round match. At French Open, he could not do much and lost out to eventual finalist Casper Ruud in the fourth round. At German Open, he gave his best performance by defeating Maxime Cressy, Ugo Humbert, Felix Auger-Aliassimme, Nick Kyrgios, and Daniil Medvedev to clinch the title.

He subsequently crashed out of the Wimbledon and Washington Open in the first and second rounds of the tournaments respectively. However. he came back even stronger in the Canada Open defeating Nick Kyrgios and Casper Ruud before succumbing to Pablo Carreno Busta in the final. At US Open, he crashed out in the second round itself. He reached the quarter-final round of both the Astana Open and European Cup but lost on both occasions at the hands of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Dominic Thiem respectively.

In the ongoing 2022 Vienna Open, he defeated the American Frances Tiafoe in three sets.

Emil Ruusuvuori has had a disappointing season so far. His best performance came early on in the ATP tour where he made it to the semi-final of the Melbourne Summer Set but lost to Rafael Nadal. He then participated in the Australian Open but was defeated by Felix Auger-Aliassimme in the first round itself.

In the Maharashtra Open, he was outstanding making it to the final but could not win the match and the title. At the Indian Wells Open, he was defeated in the second round by Diego Schwartzman. In Grand Slams i.e., the French Open and Wimbledon, he failed to advance into the third round. At US Open, he succumbed at the first hurdle.

In the Stockholm Open, the Finish player stunned everyone when he defeated the American Frances Tiafoe in straight sets in the quarter-final round match of the tournament. Next match, he played against Stefanos Tsitsipas and lost.

In the ongoing 2022 Vienna Open, he defeated Lorenzo Sonego 6-2 6-3.

Hubert Hurkacz is improving himself with every match and tournament. It is expected that he will prevail over his opponent in this match. Everybody, though, would like to see some kind of resistance from Emil Ruusuvuori. However, it is unlikely that he has got enough in him to take the match into the third set.
