This offseason, Kirk Cousins made a surprising move and left the Minnesota Vikings to join the Atlanta Falcons in a lucrative deal. So far, wide receiver Justin Jefferson had remained silent on the move even though his duo with the quarterback topped the league statistically.

Many expected Jefferson to have a reaction to Cousins’ move to the Falcons since it would be his first season in the league without the star signal-caller. However, in his recent radio interview on the Rich Eisen show, the wide receiver made it clear that there are no hard feelings between them.

I always knew Kirk was going to do whatever he needs to do for his business-wise. I just knew that everything wasn't the way he wanted it to be here. Especially just with having to pay me and having to pay so many other different guy. I feel like he just wanted a new start, a new opportunity to start with Atlanta. A clean slate. I'm not mad at him at all for that.

The three-time Pro Bowler also expressed his gratitude towards Cousins for what he “brought” to him and their accomplishments together. He stated that at the end of the day, he understands it’s business and nothing personal.

Justin Jefferson unfazed by starting quarterback uncertainty

With the departure of Cousins, the Vikings brought in Sam Darnold and drafted former National Championship winner JJ McCarthy using the first-round pick. However, the starting position remains a question as the team hasn’t yet decided.

In light of the uncertainty regarding the most crucial position in the team, Jefferson claimed that he wasn’t worried about it. He stated that his performance is not dependent on the quarterback but rather the opposite.

I'm always going to make the best of the opportunity. Always going to try to be the quarterback's friend and make his job a lot easier. It doesn't matter if it's Kirk or if it's Sam or it's J.J. I'm going to make it as easy as possible for them.
