There’s always trash-talking this time of the year between Justin Jefferson and Jaire Alexander. It’s only fitting because the pair play in the fierce Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings rivalry, dating back even before the NFL’s inception.

While the Packers are 2-1 after three match days, the Vikings are among the only four teams with a 100% win record (3-0). The Sunday fixture at Lambeau Field is shaping up to be one of the closest in recent memory.

Even though there’s excitement in both camps, Jefferson will treat the game like any other fixture. He threw the ball in Alexander’s court.

I don’t really care about the matchup; honestly, I feel like he cares more than I do.

Justin Jefferson told the Twin City media on Thursday

Fans missed the banter both times last year because Jefferson missed the early season game due to injury and Alexander was serving a suspension in the week 16 reverse fixture. However, the story is different this time around, as both are available to start for their respective teams.

When asked to describe his rivalry with the Packers corner, Jefferson claimed Jaire Alexander reminded him of his older brother.

He reminds me of my big brother… Trying to hit you a little extra or push you a little extra than normal people do. I understand it’s a tactic to get inside my head and mess up my gameplan and what I’m doing. But it doesn’t really work.

Jefferson may sound nonchalant, but he wants to win this game badly. It will not only prolong the Vikings’ winning start to the season but also hand over the bragging rights until the next fixture. The 25-year-old claimed he would definitely pull out his signature celebration after scoring over the 2x All-Pro defensive back.

I’m not really tripping on that. I’m going to just get my Griddy in his end zone. So, I’m not tripping on it at all. I’m excited for the matchup.

The Packers won the last fixture 33-10 in December. Jefferson only had 5 receptions for 59 yards, receiving from Nick Mullens and Jaren Hall. He has played a total of 7 games against the Green Bay franchise since entering the league, recording a total of 34 catches for 537 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Historically, the Packers have dominated the tie 65-57-3. They are once again the favorites to secure a victory (57.3%).
