Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson stated that he is not focused on facing Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson. The Vikings (8-2) are slated to play division rivals Bears on Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field.

Jaylon Johnson and Justin Jefferson are one of the most anticipated storylines heading into Sunday. Through Week 11, Jefferson has managed to stay atop the leaderboards with exceptional statistics throughout the season. He is second only to his former LSU teammate Ja’Marr Chase in most receiving yards with 912.

Meanwhile, Jaylon Johnson has been instrumental in limiting the wide receivers amid a four-game skid for the Bears. Last week, he allowed only one reception, making him one of the most dangerous enemies in the upcoming battle.

In the recent media availability post-practice, Justin Jefferson praised Jaylon Johnson as a good corner. However, Jefferson also downplayed the cornerback as he stated that he was not bothered or focused on the matchup.

He’s a good corner. He’s definitely a guy where you got to bring your game against…it will be good to go up against him, but I’m really not too focused on that.

Minnesota Vikings successfully overcame their win tally from last year, cruising to eight wins in ten games. However, the recent games have unearthed a flaw in the system that could potentially derail their playoff push. The last two games saw their total points per game drop from 26.125 to 24.4. The concern emerged from the fact that their two opponents were two of the worst-performing teams in the AFC, the Jags and the Titans.

The offense hasn’t come together in a while, a statement Jefferson noted in his speech. While speaking on Johnson, Jefferson admitted that there needs to be a better effort from the Vikings’ offense.

More focused on about just our play offensively. There hasn’t been a game where we just came together as a whole offensively. Every week we are trying to inch our way closer to that perfection.

Jaylon Johnson excited to face the Minnesota Vikings and Justin Jefferson

Jaylon Johnson was cheerful as he expressed his excitement to play against Justin Jefferson on Sunday. Jefferson is one of the most dangerous foes in the season with his leading statistics. It was only last week when Jefferson set a record by passing Torry Holt for the most receiving yards over the first five seasons of a career.

Holt logged 80 regular-season games and accumulated 6,784 yards for St. Louis. Jefferson has 6,811 yards — in just 70 games. Jefferson is no wonder Johnson’s biggest test this season. Johnson praised Jefferson, acknowledging that wideout has no weaknesses, via the Chicago Tribune.

I don’t feel like he has a weakness. They’re going to try to get him the ball, so we have to be prepared to limit his production as best we can. I’m excited. I love playing against high-level guys like him. Just excited to go against their offense. Explosive offense. … I’m looking forward to the challenge.

Was Jaylon Johnson’s statement a bit too far? The question of whether it was yet another story of barking dogs seldom biting would only be known on Sunday evening. The Bears will look forward to bounce back from a four-game losing streak they are on. Meanhwile, one more win could solidify Vikings playoff chances in a closely fought AFC.
