In merely a few hours from now, a documentary chronicling the rise and fall of Vince McMahon will premiere on Netflix. Was he a mastermind or was he a madman? The doc is expected to unravel the myths to provide an answer to its viewers based on the findings the former WWE Chairman doesn’t seem too pleased with. In fact, McMahon took to X for the first time since mid-2022 to release a statement.

The 79-year-old said he doesn’t regret his decision to partake in the documentary. In what was a unique opportunity for the show makers, they had the onus of documenting his life incidents, including how he built an unprecedented sports entertainment juggernaut, better known as WWE. However, as per McMahon, the doc fell short and ended up conflating the character, Mr. McMahon, with his true self, Vince.

Vince McMahon also said that a lot of stuff has been misrepresented to paint the audience confused. He further accused the producers of using out-of-context footage and dated soundbites to support a deceptive narrative about himself.

McMahon even alluded to the Janel Grant lawsuit that’s allegedly covered in the documentary to bolster their misleading claims. At last, Vince appealed to the viewers to be open-minded while watching the docuseries and urged them to remember there’s always two sides to a story.

The way McMahon has responded makes one wonder if it’s nothing but damage control for what’s on the horizon. Wrestling historian Dave Meltzer confirmed that he was also interviewed for the McMahon-based series and said that there are some people in WWE who’re upset over the situation.

What can the fans expect from the Vince McMahon documentary?

A few days ago, WWE HOF’er Ric Flair‘s son-in-law, Conrad Thompson, provided a sneak peek of the doc. He claimed that it’s going to be a double shovel burial of Vince McMahon. Thompson added that director Bill Simmons has taken the inputs of longtime wrestling journos, viz., David Shoemaker and Dave Meltzer, as mentioned above.

Numerous WWE legends, including The Rock, John Cena, and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, were interviewed for the cause, and the fans saw those traces in the trailer. All in all, there’s palpable trepidation among those in WWE and McMahon’s camp itself about how the documentary will portray the ex-WWE CEO on screen.

Last month at Bash in Berlin, Cody Rhodes was asked why the locker room has been awfully quiet about the allegations levied on Mr. McMahon. Rhodes asserted that it wasn’t true, as the men and women back there are hellbent on doing their part, and that’s to entertain the WWE Universe.
