Prior to the latest episode of WWE Smackdown, WWE announced that Pat McAfee will be joining the Blue brand as the show’s new analyst. McAfee will be providing commentary on Smackdown every week, alongside the VP of WWE’s on-air talent, Michael Cole.
WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon sent a video message to McAfee to welcome him to the Smackdown brand. McAfee shared a video on Twitter, midway through which, Vince McMahon welcomed the former NFL player.
Both the main roster commentary teams of WWE have undergone a change. Adnan Virk has joined Byron Saxton and Corey Graves on the Raw commentary team. Whereas Michael Cole is now joined by Pat McAfee on Smackdown.
Pat McAfee has experience of working with WWE
Pat McAfee began working with WWE in 2018. He worked as an analyst on the NXT TakeOver kickoff show and made his in-ring debut in 2020. McAfee fought on two occasions and failed to secure a win on both the instances.
He had a rivalry with Adam Cole during his in-ring stint with the company. McAfee even alluded to his rivalry with Cole by signing off his video message with the word “BAYBAY.”
Fans might remember that McAfee commentated on a WWE Smackdown episode after WWE Crown Jewel. But this time it is a much longer role and we wish Pat McAfee all the very best for the same.
