Earlier today, Netflix rolled out a documentary based on Vince McMahon. It chronicles the 79-year-old bursting onto the scenes, taking over the administrative reins of WWE from his father. Among numerous excerpts that the doc intends to dove into, one that grabs a major chunk of attention is McMahon’s rebuttal of an alleged r*pe with former WWE employee Rita Chatterton.
She joined the promotion back in 1984, thus becoming the first female referee to officiate a WWE match. A couple of years later, in 1986, Ms. Chatterton was allegedly coerced into oral s*x, even getting her jeans ripped off. It wasn’t made public until 1992, when she spoke about the incident during an interview. In his documentary, Vince outright denied the allegations, saying it was consensual.
For the unversed, the former WWE CEO reportedly settled a long-standing lawsuit from Rita Chatterton in December 2022. McMahon made a hefty payout to her, the amount of which was kept undisclosed, sources told the Wall Street Journal. In June of that year, Vince McMahon stepped down as WWE Chairman as the hush money scandal first made the headlines.
Mr. McMahon was accused of paying over $12 million to four different women, all of whom were ex-WWE employees. As far as Chatterton is concerned, Vince alleged her of falsely accusing him of r*pe under influence by an anonymous wrestler due to previous vendetta.
These claims pertained to a lawsuit that McMahon filed in 1993 but later pulled out to focus on his then-ongoing trial of drug peddling. In the aforementioned docuseries, Vince admitted to having a third brain that constantly thinks of s*x. Meanwhile, the others direct him to be a normal human being.
Does the documentary delve into Janel Grant’s lawsuit on Vince McMahon?
As known to the audience, Vince McMahon was accused of s*xual trafficking by yet another former WWE employee, Janel Grant, earlier this year. Due to the lawsuit currently under federal investigation, it’s not covered in the documentary.
The sixth episode runs a disclaimer stating that as soon as the allegations were made public, Vince canceled his remaining interviews. Moreover, the episode ends with a few notes asserting the ill-famed business magnate is under criminal investigation over Ms. Grant’s complaint.
Another r*pe-accused in her lawsuit, Brock Lesnar, did not comment anything about his involvement. Lesnar hasn’t since been called back by WWE, and he continues to be on the sidelines. It’s unknown at this point whether he’d ever return to the company.
