In what would be his first foray into the entertainment industry post-WWE retirement, Vince McMahon is in the process of setting up a new entertainment hub company. It’d be aimed at financially backing, developing, and producing film & TV productions. Moreover, Vince doesn’t plan to counter WWE by any means, noting that the firm would solely focus on fiction and non-fiction projects.
The story has been broken by PWInsider. WWE alumni said to be involved with McMahon are Brad Blum and Kristen Prouty. Kevin Dunn, one of McMahon’s biggest allies back in the day, wasn’t expected for this project, the report added. The company would be based in Los Angeles whenever it’s ready to be operational. An interesting tidbit from Vince McMahon‘s employee agreement in WWE is that he did have a non-compete clause.
It’d be up in January 2025. The former WWE Chairman wouldn’t be able to unveil his brand-new venture before that. The aforementioned news comes at a time when the 79-year-old business magnate is under federal investigation. The Department of Justice requested for the Janel Grant suit to be paused for at least six months as they probe into McMahon’s hush money scandal that came to light in 2022.
Most recently, McMahon was dragged into yet another lawsuit owing to the infamous Ring Boys misconduct. Apart from Vince, his wife Linda and WWE as a whole have been named as co-defendants. The suit accuses the McMahons of condoning inhumane acts that were inflicted on underage children, who gained notoriety as ring boys.
They used to be s*xually assaulted by Melvin Philips Jr., and Vince and co weren’t oblivious to it. In response, Vince’s attorney vowed to rigorously defend her client, as the suit’s based on lies spread by the New York Post columnist Phil Mushnick, she said.
What did the Netflix documentary on Vince McMahon reveal?
Last month, Netflix rolled out a documentary chronicling the rise and fall of Vince McMahon. The doc, set at six episodes, dived into the ill-famed executive’s journey from scratch to becoming a colloquial godfather of the multi-billion sporting juggernaut in WWE.
One of the initial revelations Vince made was enduring an abusive stepfather. It wasn’t until he turned 12 and met his biological dad and gained peace. Another excerpt from the docuseries saw McMahon running into a hostile argument with his son, Shane McMahon.
Vince was upset at Shane for disavowing him over a creative decision. Shane’s father was holding a knife and asked Shane-O-Mac to stick that dagger right into his heart if he wanted to go against his will.
