Things continue to worsen for Vince McMahon. Yesterday, the former WWE chairman and his wife, Linda McMahon, were named co-defendants in a lawsuit related to the Ring Boy scandal. DiCello Levitt and Murphy, Falcon & Murphy filed a lawsuit against the McMahons and TKO. Five former ‘Ring Boys’ accused the company of negligence and for allowing Melvin Phillips Jr. to assault them.
The lawsuit stated that Phillips targeted underage Ring Boys from broken homes. Furthermore, Phillips manipulated these children by promising them they would meet their favorite wrestlers. Phillips s*xually harassed and assaulted at wrestling venues, hotel rooms, and other locations. According to the lawsuit, the higher-ups, i.e., Vince and Linda McMahon, knew what was going on but did nothing to stop it.
The Ring Boy scandal is one of wrestling’s biggest controversies. During the ‘Mr. McMahon’ Netflix documentary, Vince opined on the situation and refuted any claims. In fact, one of McMahon’s right-hand men at the time, Pat Patterson, was accused of assaulting Tom Cole, a former Ring Boy. However, WWE turned a blind eye to the allegations.

As per the affidavit, the ongoing trafficking allegations against McMahon and WWE propelled the former Ring Boys to file the lawsuit. In January, Janel Grant accused Vince of s*xually assaulting her during her tenure in WWE. Moreover, Grant claimed that several employees at the company knew about it but overlooked the heinous acts.
At the moment, the lawsuit is on hold due to a federal investigation against Vince McMahon and WWE. The 79-year-old resigned from all of his positions at TKO after sponsors threatened to pull out due to the lawsuit.
Wrestling fans react to the former Ring Boys’ lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE
As expected, wrestling fans were not surprised at another lawsuit being filed against Vince McMahon. The former owner of WWE’s past deeds continue to haunt him. Users online compared McMahon to Sean Combs, better known as Diddy, who is also facing several s*x trafficking charges.
Most fans hoped that the affected Ring Boys would receive the required justice for what transpired decades ago. Moreover, the WWE Universe anticipated McMahon finally getting his comeuppance behind prison bars. One user was curious as to whether The Rock was involved in the lawsuits given his position on the TKO board of directors.
There were a few fans who believed that TKO shouldn’t be held liable as it didn’t happen under their ownership. Others questioned how this lawsuit came about, speculating that the statute of limitations might’ve expired. However, Maryland’s Child Victims Act of 2023 eliminates the limitations for cases of child s*xual abuse.
