Linda McMahon is famous for her appearances during the Attitude Era, often being involved in a feud against her husband, Vince McMahon. She later switched to a more corporate role, being appointed as the company’s president in 1993 and CEO in 1997. She has now bagged herself another massive role, this time in the United States government.
The United States Senate held a vote, which resulted in Linda McMahon being appointed as the USA’s secretary of education. The vote was in her favor, with a result of 51-45. The 76-year-old has spent a year on the Connecticut State Board of Education. Regardless, she has been severely criticized for her lack of experience in education leadership since this appointment.
The most interesting part about this incident is that Donald Trump has already vowed to dismantle the Department of Education. The former WWE CEO will complete the tasks of winding down the department. The WWE Hall of Famer has even said that he wants McMahon to put herself out of a job.

A few weeks ago, McMahon had faced a Senate hearing for her confirmation to lead the Department of Education of the United States. Her daughter, Stephanie McMahon; her son, Shane McMahon; and her son-in-law, Triple H, were all present for this hearing. She even introduced her family prior to testifying.
What is Linda McMahon’s history with Donald Trump?
Her appointment as Secretary of Education is not the first time that Linda McMahon has dabbled in politics. In fact, this is not even her first time serving under a Donald Trump presidency. Vince McMahon and his wife, through association, have always been close with the President of the United States, and their friendship goes back decades.

Back in 2016, Trump announced that he would nominate McMahon as the administrator of the Small Business Administration. This appointment was later confirmed with a Senate hearing in 2017. The 76-year-old stepped down from this role in 2019 to assume new responsibilities in the Republican re-election campaign. She had also endorsed him multiple times during the 2024 presidential elections.
Of course, Linda McMahon is not the only WWE personality who is close to Trump. Hulk Hogan was a huge advocate for the controversial figure leading up to the 2024 presidential elections. He even ripped off his shirt at the Republican National Convention to cut a wrestling-style promo for the billionaire. Furthermore, superstars like The Undertaker and Kane made public statements, asking their fans to vote for him during the elections.
