Brazilian stars Vinicius Jr. and Lucas Paqueta trolled teammate Endrick, by calling him out by his nickname ‘Bobby’. The 18-year-old forward, who recently joined La Liga giants Real Madrid, has often been linked to English legend, Sir Bobby Charlton.
Three of the Brazilian stars, Endrick, Vinicius Jr. and Lucas Paqueta, are parts of the Brazil squad for their upcoming World Cup qualification matches against Ecuador and Paraguay. The Selecao have endured a difficult qualification campaign, with the five-time World champions, lying in sixth place on the table. A number of veteran stars have been named in the recent squad, with former PSG star Lucas Moura and ex-Marseille midfielder Gerson Santos finding their way back into the side.
While in training, a video of Real Madrid star Endrick being trolled by his fellow teammates, over his nickname ‘Bobby’ surfaced online. The young forward was filming the video, when Vinicius and Paqueta were seen playfully teasing the player. In another similar incident, after his debut goal for the Los Blancos, Endrick was trolled by his teammates, by the same nickname. It is a reference to the Brazilian’s favorite football player Sir Bobby Charlton.
It was quite surprising for fans, when Endrick picked 1966 World Cup winner Charlton, who had left playing football long back in 1973, as his idol. Meanwhile, after opening his La Liga goal-scoring account, the young forward is expected to play an important role in Dorival Junior’s side.
Brazil head coach Dorival Junior backs Endrick, amid lack of playing time at Real Madrid
Los Blancos starlet Endrick is currently with the Brazilian national team, which will be playing in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Head coach Dorival Junior has backed the 18-year-old prodigy to star for Brazil, amid lack of playing time for his new club, which he signed for this summer.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Brazil’s match against Ecuador, Dorival backed Endrick to be a starter for Real Madrid as well as the national team, given his quality and skills. He expressed belief in the youngster, stating that he could play for the entire 90 minutes. Dorival then stressed the fact that it was just the early stages of the season, and any player must be patient.
Endrick, despite not being a starter in one of the best teams in world football, has the credentials to be in the squad and play 90 minutes. He has tremendous potential and a lot is expected from him.Dorival Junior on youngster Endrick (H/T: GOAL)
The 62-year-old manager has backed other young players in the Brazilian squad as well, with another 17-year-old Palmeiras forward Estevao also finding his place in it. Botafogo star Luiz Henrique has also been added to the 21-man squad.
