Having moved away from two formats of cricket, Virat Kohli still finds a way to be among the conversations of cricket fans. The Indian legend stepped away from T20I cricket last year following the finals win at the 2024 T20 World Cup.

To the disappointment of his fans, he also stepped away from Test cricket earlier this year. With Kohli only playing one format, which is ODIs, fans now are desperate to see any glimpse of the batter available on social media. There are rumors floating around that the star batter has moved to England with his family, and from time-to-time pictures of him in England are circulated.

One such picture has caught the attention of many fans but hasn’t received a very welcoming reaction. Recently, Kohli was seen clicking a picture with Shash Kiran, and many believed it has been clicked in England. Kiran is the Advocate General of Karnataka and has been involved in a few cases dealing with the RCB franchise and Kohli as well.

Kohli looked in a good mood in the picture, however, fans noticed a detail which didn’t sit very well with them. Virat Kohli, who is often seen as the fitness icon of the nation and who presents himself to be young forever, sported a heavily gray beard to the amusement of his fans.

Fans stunned as they react to Virat Kohli’s gray beard

Many supporters are unsure if the image has been edited or if it is an original picture and have commented on the picture in large numbers. There are multiple speculations floating, and reactions have poured in a bulk towards Kohli’s new look.

The reactions expressed shock and disappointment. Fans started guessing Kohli’s chances of participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2027. The athlete will be 39 then, and his supporters are fearing he may not feature in the event. His supporters are not able to see their star age like this and have expressed their views, commenting on his age.

Will Virat Kohli be able to keep himself fit until the 2027 ODI World Cup?

The image of Virat Kohli in a gray beard has scared a few fans about his future in the sport. With him only playing the ODI format now, the next big thing for him in the cricket calendar is the 2027 ODI World Cup. In an RCB event, Kohli did mention he dreams of lifting the World Cup in 2027 and is striving to work hard and compete for it.

However, can Kohli sustain the pressures and changes occurring in the Indian team up until the World Cup? With a transition phase set in the Indian camp, Kohli will have to come out with his A-game to make sure he cements his spot. Coach Gautam Gambhir is looking to renew the look of the side and wants youngsters to be at the helm in all three formats.

The beard may have turned gray, but one must not doubt Kohli’s fitness abilities as in the recently concluded IPL he showed glimpses of his very best. Famously in a match against Punjab Kings, Kohli ran four runs before the ball touched the boundary rope. He also scored a mammoth 657 runs in just 15 matches at an impressive average of 54.75. Kohli’s cricketing abilities and fitness are very much still present in the athlete.

However, with the changing environment, one has certain doubts about if the superstar batter can maintain his consistency till the World Cup. Kohli won’t mind the start to this journey as it takes place in a country where he has scored a lot of runs in the past.

The batter will be seen competing in three match ODI series in Australia this October. Australia’s pace and bounce has suited Kohli well over the years, and he will look to make the opportunity count big so that he can be sure about his chances going forward.
