India vs England 2021: WATCH – Virat Kohli hits Mark Wood for a classy six over long-off
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli waged a lone battle for India in the third T20I against England as he put on a show to take his side to a respectable total in the first innings of 156. India got off to a horror start in their innings after being put in to bat as they lost KL Rahul for a duck before the returning Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 15 as well. With debutant Ishan Kishan also not lasting for long, the onus was on Kohli to deliver.
And deliver he did as Kohli came up with a scintillating one-man show that saw him start slowly before going berserk in the last five overs. He batted like a man possessed in the said period and ensured that what could have been a total of 130 ended up being 156. His partnership with Hardik Pandya gave them a sniff but England led by Jos Buttler‘s 83* ensured that the game was won with ease.
Watch – Virat Kohli’s six off Mark Wood
As aforementioned, Virat Kohli went berserk in the last 5 overs and he was especially hard on Mark Wood who bowled the 18th over. The fast-bowler had picked up three wickets in his spell and was looking unstoppable unless he met his match in the Indian skipper. Kohli hit him for six, six and four off three deliveries before a dot off the final ball to ensure that the over ended up being a big one for India.
The highlight of the over was Kohli’s second six that he sent straight back past the bowler over long-off with a shot that can best be described as classy.
