Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli’s calm demeanour and non-aggressive behavior, following the team’s thrilling victory over Chennai Super Kings, has left fans worried. Many fans even speculated that a recent social media controversy might have stirred him.

Virat Kohli had a huge role to play in RCB’s narrow two-run victory over CSK. It marked a rare double win for the franchise, over the five-time IPL winners this season. Kohli helped RCB post a mammoth first innings total of 213 runs, with a brilliant 62-run knock of 33 balls. He recorded his 7th half-century of the season, and also claimed the pole position on the Orange Cap leaderboard with 505 runs in 11 matches.

However, the RCB batter and the IPL’s leading run-getter, did seem off track with his emotions, during and after the game. He was unusually calm throughout the match, and did not celebrate vigorously, despite the team pulling off a last-ditch victory. It was quite unusual of the 36-year-old to act in such a way, as he is very often seen aggressively celebrating each and every moment on the pitch, with utmost energy.

The 36-year-old was seen walking off the pitch in silence after the match and sitting alone in the RCB dressing room. Interestingly, Virat Kohli also did not raise his bat in celebration, after completing his half-century. He was not pumped at the boundaries that he scored against the CSK bowlers, including Khaleel Ahmed, whom he had confronted for his antics during RCB’s last encounter against CSK.

Kohli looked sloppy while fielding for his side as well, and even missed Ravindra Jadeja’s catch in the 19th over of CSK’s chase. Despite being a formidable fielder, Kohli misjudged the catch at long-on as the ball surprisingly went through his hands. The unusual behavior raised speculation among fans that the 36-year-old might have been affected by the controversy that erupted over his Instagram activity.

The veteran Indian star was trolled on social media for allegedly liking a fan page that featured a picture of Bollywood actress Avneet Kaur. Responding to the criticism, Kohli went on to issue a clarification that his Instagram algorithm had mistakenly registered an interaction. He even urged users to refrain from making unnecessary assumptions about his family, including wife Anuskha Sharma, based on it.

Nonetheless, keeping aside the off-pitch controversy, following the CSK-RCB encounter, Virat Kohli did share a warm hug with MS Dhoni. The 36-year-old went up to the CSK skipper to hug him, while taking off his cap in a gesture of respect for the Indian cricket icon, during the post-match handshake.

Fans shared their reactions to Kohli’s unusual non-aggressive behavior, both during and after the match. Many noted that the 36-year-old was emotionless throughout the game, due to the incessant social media trolling that erupted over his Instagram activity. Some other fans interestingly added that Kohli was finally getting serious about playing in the IPL, and winning a trophy for the Bengaluru-based franchise.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what lies ahead for the 36-year-old IPL legend, who has scored over 500 runs this season. It interestingly marks the third consecutive season, that Kohli has crossed the 500-run mark, having achieved the same in seven out of the last 17 IPL seasons that he has played.
