There is an altogether fresh buzz in Indian cricket as two of its favorites are returning to blue colors. After a gap of more than 7 months, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be joining the Indian ODI setup for the upcoming tour of Australia.

The final squad for the tour is not announced, but the return of the modern superstars of Indian cricket is very certain. Both, Sharma and Kohli, announced their retirements from the T20I format last year after being crowned champions in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

This is why the pair wasn’t present at the recently concluded Asia Cup. The duo, to their fans’ shock and disappointment, also announced an untimely retirement from Test cricket this May and were not part of the highly engrossing English series.

The only format that they have still not said goodbye to, to their fans’ delight, is ODI cricket. Both Kohli and Sharma have been giants of the 50-over format and have ruled over the past 10-15 years. If everything has to go as per expected plan, the pair will be seen in action for the first time since the Champions Trophy on October 19 in the first ODI against Australia at Perth.

Sharma has scored a remarkable 11,168 runs at an impressive average of 48.77. The opening batter has hit 32 ODI hundreds and 58 fifties. Sharma also holds the record of scoring 264 runs in one innings, which still remains the highest individual ODI score.

On the other hand, not one to be left behind, Kohli has scored a mammoth 14,181 runs in the format at a more than an impressive average of 57.88. The batter has a record 51 hundreds in the format. He has backed it up with 74 fifties as well.

Both batters have contributed immensely to the format, and it will be difficult for the viewers to see them exit without playing another World Cup.
