Virat Kohli's classic innings against Pakistan led to a sharp fall in UPI transactions

India were tethering when Pakistani bowlers broke India’s back by dismissing top-order batsmen. KL RahulRohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav had departed to the heartbreak of the Indians. At the crease, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya took the responsibility into their hands.

Both Kohli and Pandya played carefully. They rotated strikes, played some shots, and like this, they continued till Pandya was dismissed on the first ball of the 20th over.

No one knew who had got the momentum. The match looked as if the result might not be known till the last over. And so was the case, till the last ball, it was impossible to know beforehand who will be the winner.

Virat Kohli had been struggling a lot while scoring runs earlier this year. Until the Asia Cup 2022, Kohli had been the target of vicious trolls for his poor form. In the Asia Cup 2022, fans got a glimpse of an old Kohli but the first match of the T20 World Cup against Pakistan has brought back all the respect Indian fans had for their ‘Chase Master’.

It so happened that people remained so glued to their screens that they stopped their Diwali shopping. On the app BharatPe, there was a huge jump in the transaction from 9 am to 1:30 pm.

However, when the rival countries’ clash started at 1:30, transactions started declining. In short, people forgot their Diwali shopping in front of the India versus Pakistan clash.

UPI transactions from 9 a.m. yesterday till evening- as the match became interesting, online shopping stopped- and sharp rebound after the match,” Max Life Cheif Investment Officer Mihir Vohra said in a Tweet.

Meanwhile, Pakistan posted 160 after being asked to bat first. India were reduced to 31/4 until Kohli and Hardik Pandya’s careful knocks steadied the ship. Kohli played a classic knock, scoring an unbeaten 82 off 53 balls.

But it’s harsh to not praise the contributions of Arshdeep Singh who sent back Pakistan’s dangerous opening duo Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. Pandya took care of the middle-order batters while also scoring 40 runs.

The last over of the match will be remembered in the ages to come. 16 runs were needed off six balls but so much happened in that over. From controversial no-ball to three byes, to Ravichandran Ashwin‘s leaving the ball after calmly reading beforehand of its being a wide one to finally hitting for that one run needed to win the match.
