The 2025 American League Championship Series (ALCS) is heading down the wire. The Toronto Blue Jays forced a Game 7 following an emphatic 6-2 win in Game 6 against the Seattle Mariners. Following the game, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. issued a battle cry and expressed that he was going to give all he has on Monday.

The Blue Jays entered the ALCS in top form following a dominating American League Division Series (ALDS) victory over the New York Yankees. Guerrero Jr. went 9-for-17 in that series with 3 home runs.

In the first two games of this ALCS series against the Mariners, his bat would cool down. He went 0-for-7 combined in Games 1 and 2, which saw his team get outscored 13-4.

Game 3 saw him go 4-for-4 with a single, 2 doubles, and a solo home run, and was a triple shy of the cycle. After that game, the 26-year-old sent a powerful message regarding his team. An 8-2 win in Game 4 saw them tie the series.

A tight Game 5 saw the Mariners break open the game in the 8th inning. After Cal Raleigh tied the proceedings with a solo home run, a grand slam from Eugenio Suarez gave them a 6-2 lead. The Mariners held on to win and took a 3-2 series lead, putting the Blue Jays on the brink of elimination.

In Game 6, the Blue Jays would stitch some hits and take a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning. A two-run home run from Addison Barger in the bottom of the 3rd inning extended their lead to 4-0.

In the 5th inning, Guerrero Jr. stepped up once again. The 5-time MLB All-Star crushed his 6th home run of the 2025 postseason. He would smack a curveball from Logan Gilbert into left field and put his team in a commanding position.

A two-run home run from Josh Naylor in the 6th inning made it a 5-2 game and kept his side team alive in the contest. Following a wild pitch from Matt Brash in the 7th inning, Guerrero Jr. would score from second. The Blue Jays held on to a 6-2 win and forced Game 7.

While speaking with Hazel Mae after the game, the first baseman would give a battle cry and claim that he was born ready for Game 7.

I’m going to give all I have for the city. I’m going to give all I have for the fans… I born ready, I born ready, and I want it all for this city.

The home run in the 5th inning was Guerrero Jr.’s 6th home run in his postseason career. He tied the record of Joe Carter and Jose Bautista for the most home runs in the Blue Jays’ postseason franchise history at 6.

Guerrero Jr. is batting with a .462 average in the postseason this year while going 18-for-39. He is just the 2nd player, after Carlos Beltran in 2004, to bat with an average of more than .440 in a 10-game span in a single postseason.

If the Blue Jays end up winning Game 7 and reach the World Series on Monday, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. may end up being named the 2025 ALCS MVP.

Game 7 will feature a pitching rematch of Game 3, with George Kirby facing Shane Bieber. That day, Kirby gave up 3 home runs and conceded 8 earned runs. Meanwhile, Bieber tossed 6 innings and gave up 2 runs while picking up 8 strikeouts.
