Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Toronto Blue Jays advanced to the World Series on Monday. They came back from 3-1 down in Game 7 to win 4-3 and reached their first World Series since 1993. After the game, Guerrero Jr. was left overwhelmed with emotions and was seen crying.

The Blue Jays lost Games 1 and 2 at home and found themselves 2-0 down in the series. They 2025 comeback kings fought back. Victories in Games 3 and 4 saw them tie the series. A late grand slam from Eugenio Suarez saw them drop Game 5.

With their backs against the walls, Guerrero Jr. and his team fired off in Game 6. They crushed the Marines 6-2 in Game 6 with their talisman homering again. Their win forced a Game 7, their first Game 7 since their loss against the Kansas City Royals in the 1985 American League Championship Series (ALCS).

After trading early blows in the first inning, the Marines found themselves in a strong position through solo home runs from Julio Rodriguez and Cal Raleigh.

The highlight moment for the Blue Jays came in the 7th inning. George Springer, who was 0-for-2 until that point, would crush a go-ahead 3-run home run off Eduard Bazardo.

Springer’s home run turned out to be the main difference as the Blue Jays held on to their lead and emerged victorious. This win saw them clinch the AL pennant for the first time in 32 years.

During the celebrations, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was seen with tears in his eyes. While speaking with Hazel Mae after the game, the 5-time MLB All-Star would emotionally say “4 more” referencing to the team needing 4 more wins to win the World Series.

Guerrero Jr. and his teammates will now take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, who made light work of the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series (NLCS). The reigning World Series champions swept the Brewers 4-0 with Shohei Ohtani stealing the spotlight in Game 4 with an iconic two-way performance.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. named ALCS MVP following dominating performance

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was the main man for the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Championship Series (ALCS). In the first two games where he went hitless (0-for-7), the Blue Jays ended up losing those games. For his historic performance, he was named as the ALCS MVP.

His bat woke up in Game 3. Following a single, a double and a home run, Guerrero Jr. went 4-for-4 with another double late on. He was hustling for a triple but was stopped by his coach at 2nd base. He thus fell a triple shy of the cycle.

In Game 4, he homered again. A tight Game 5 saw the Mariners blow the game wide open in the 8th inning through a grand slam by Eugenio Suarez. Guerrero Jr. homered again in Game 6. His home run on Sunday put his side 5-0 up.

In total, the 26-year-old went 10-for-26 with 3 home runs and 22 total bases. He produced a slash line of .385/.484/.846 and turned out to be a massive thorn in the Mariners’ side.

Earlier this year, Guerrero Jr. committed his future to the team. After several rumors and speculations, the first baseman penned down a 14-year, $500 million contract extension with the team. So far, the investment is turning out well for the team.

There was another NHL/MLB crossover on Monday night. After Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was named as the 2025 ALCS MVP, the Toronto Maple Leafs would hype up the first baseman.

The whole of Toronto was rooting for the Blue Jays in Game 7. Guerrero Jr. showcased his support for the Maple Leafs while entering the Rogers Centre on Monday while wearing a No.34 Auston Matthews jersey.

The Maple Leafs do not have a good record in Game 7. They have lost their last 7 Game 7’s including this year. After tying the series in Game 6, the Maple Leafs got crushed 6-1 by the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of the second-round series.

So, as Guerrero Jr. rocked his jersey, some fans were left concerned, thinking that the bad luck of the Maple Leafs could affect the Blue Jays. Fortunately for them, there was no such case as they emerged as 4-3 winners.

As he was later named the MVP, the Maple Leafs would share an image of him on their official X account in their jersey and dropped a 3-word reaction while hyping him.

Game 1 of the 2025 World Series will be played on Friday night at Rogers Centre. The Blue Jays will have home field advantage in this matchup against the Dodgers.
