At the Volvo Car Open 2021, a COVID-19 vaccination drive to be conducted for the players

As the tennis action shifts from hard surfaces to clay, the bio-bubbles still continue around players with regular testing for the virus. The vaccine has been available but with players travelling, it has been difficult for players to get their vaccination shots.

Looking into all this, Charleston will be offering vaccination for all of the players at the WTA 500 Volvo Car Open 2021 who are yet to get themselves vaccinated as per their wish. With many players having previously shown interest in getting themselves vaccinated, Charleston will be a good opportunity for them.

Oksana Kalashnikova, who is currently competing in the doubles event, tweeted a photo of her receipt thanking the organisation for conducting the drive.

While Oksana tweeted the news, there has not been any official announcement done by the organising committee. In a twitter exchange with journalist Simon Cambers, Oksana confirmed that players can request for the vaccination and it will be done with proper scheduling.

Top players like Ash Barty and Naomi Osaka had previously shown interest in getting vaccinated against the virus. While Barty, who is the top-seed at the ongoing tournament will be happy with the drive, Osaka has skipped the tournament and has missed the opportunity to get the dose.
