CM Punk‘s WWE comeback trail was marred by a torn triceps injury. However, despite the fact that he’s yet to receive medical clearance for in-ring competition, he hasn’t stopped ticking people off. Apart from breathing and screwing up Drew McIntyre every now and then, he now seems to have caught the ire of Wade Barrett.
The SmackDown commentator quoted a reply to an official post of WWE Shop on X. It was regarding the release of retro CM Punk tees. Barrett was quick to catch that they sneaked in a t-shirt that was Punk’s attire during his time as the leader of The Nexus. And the Brit couldn’t believe what he had seen. He called it out as BS and even threatened to slap someone in WWE’s merchandise department.

One can understand why Wade’s upset. After all, he was the one who got replaced by The Best in the World as the new leader of The Nexus back then. And for some reason, Barrett even tagged Drew McIntyre to bring this to his cognizance. The Scot was quick to respond, as he claimed he’d rather wear a shirt from The Corre, which was a spinoff of The Nexus.

There’s an interesting time ahead with CM Punk’s return announced for next week’s Raw. This past Monday, Adam Pearce said he’d be willing to do business with the self-proclaimed DM Hunk only if he apologized to a couple of referees.
Had McIntyre obeyed the GM’s order, he would’ve gotten himself a match with The Second City Saint at SummerSlam. But Drew vehemently refused to do so. He instead blamed the WWE officials for screwing him up over and over again. As a result, the Scottish Warrior remained suspended.
What’s the current status of CM Punk for SummerSlam?
Whether CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre is on for SummerSlam or not will be made clear on Raw this coming Monday. Per a recent report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the said match isn’t a certainty at this point.

Even though WWE was hopeful of making it happen at The Biggest Party of the Summer, it might not end up happening at all. Everything comes down to whether Punk will be cleared in time or not. There seems to be a backup plan with Seth Rollins getting inserted into the story recently.
He was the one to attack McIntyre when the latter learned he’d remain suspended, as confirmed by Adam Pearce. Rollins, too, has some bad blood with McIntyre, as the two were in the world title match at this year’s WrestleMania.
