On Tuesday, during the game between the New York Mets and the Boston Red Sox, things got heated between pitcher Walker Buehler and home plate umpire Mike Estabrook. The former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was ejected from the game after he exchanged some fierce words with him.

Buehler, the two-time World Series winner, was making his 7th start for the Red Sox on Tuesday. With his team winning on Monday, they were hoping to take the series against one of the top teams with another positive result.

Tensions boiled over in the third inning when the game was still 0-0. After Francisco Lindor reached first base, Buehler went up against Juan Soto.

On a 1-0 count against Soto, Buehler would throw a pitch which was in the strike zone. Lindor would run away to second and successfully steal the base. The shock of Buehler came later on as the umpire ruled it as a ball instead of a strike.

This was something that did not sit well with Buehler. The 30-year-old would question the decision of the umpire and seemingly threw in some harsh words for him. Estabrook, the home plate umpire, would quickly toss the Red Sox starter of the game.

Following this decision from the official, manager Alex Cora would come out of his dugout and have a few words with him. He would suffer the same fate as Buehler and was tossed out of the game for his actions.

The Red Sox were then left to turn to their bullpen to see the game out. Eventually, they got the job done as the American League team shut out their opponents and claimed an important 2-0 win.

While speaking with the reporters after the game, the right-handed pitcher expressed regret over putting his team in a tough position following his ejection.

It kind of spiraled a little bit, and I said some things that he thought I shouldn’t have said and what not. So, you know, at the end of the day, putting our team in a position like that is the only thing I really regret about that situation.

Meanwhile, Red Sox manager Alex Cora claimed that he thought the official, Mike Estabrook, was a bit “aggressive” during the situation. He later added that Estabrook was the umpire and thus they had to accept and respect his decision.

This was Buehler’s first start in almost a month. Before being thrown out of the game, he had not given up a hit before he was removed. However, he did hit two hitters, including Lindor, which led him to first base.

Bullpen full of savages!!! Brutal way to come back and horrendous spot to put those boys in but huge team win. I’ll be better! W!

Brennan Bernardino, Garrett Whitlock, Justin Wilson, Greg Weissert, Justin Slaten, and Aroldis Chapman all came out of the bullpen to pitch in this game. The six of them combined to give up just 4 hits and handed the Mets their third straight loss.
