Suspended MLB player Wander Franco again makes negative headlines for involvement in an armed dispute in the Dominican Republic on Sunday. He is already involved in a s**ual abuse case and is on the restricted list in Major League Baseball.
The Tampa Bay Rays shortstop was placed on unpaid administrative leave since he got involved with charges of abuse, having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old girl, and human trafficking. In the latest arrest incident, he was involved with firearms in the parking lot with another man and a woman.
When the police arrested them, they secured two guns, one of which was allegedly Wander Franco’s. However, an investigation into the gun’s origin and ownership is yet to be confirmed. As per Juan Arturo Recio of ESPN, Franco was arguing with the man over the woman’s attention and eventually both drew firearms.
The incident took place at a parking lot in San Juan de la Maguana. Following the already ongoing case of Franco, the police restricted his movements, and carrying a gun without permission and authorization should be out of the question.
If it is discovered that the gun indeed belongs to Franco, he will be facing a hefty time behind bars. He is already alleged with a s**ual abuse case which can put him in bars for 20 years.
He is under MLB investigation for violations of its joint domestic violence policy, s**ual assault, and child abuse policy. The trials on these charges are set to begin on December 12.
Social media reacts to Wander Franco’s arrest in Dominican Republic
The police did not report if there were any injuries in the parking lot altercation. Following trials on the s**ual assault case, Wander Franco was asked for attendance at court at given times and dates.
He was conditionally released on January 5. While he refused to speak further on this case, he stated, “Everything is in God’s hands.” Fans were furious upon learning about the recent incident.
One X user noted, “Franco is the biggest waste of talent ever. What a disaster.” Another penned, “This guy had the fastest career fall off in the history of sports.”

Wander Franco’s career paused at MLB in 2023, and was put on the restricted list on July 10 by the Rays. In November, the team penned an 11-year $182 million contract with Franco. His return to MLB, let alone in America as of now, is unthinkable.
