The Golden State Warriors were on top of the world a few weeks ago. For context, the Warriors were leading the Western Conference after a blistering start to the 2024-25 NBA season. Their stars, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Andrew Wiggins were causing havoc in the West.

However, things turned sour quickly for the Dubs. They have lost their last four matches in the NBA, most recently against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.

Many fans have questioned the Warriors head coach Steve Kerr‘s management during the game. He chose to bench Curry during most parts of the game. After the loss, Kerr opened up on the game, labeling the league as ‘vicious.’

This is how it is. It’s the NBA. It’s a competitive, vicious league. Four games ago, we’re on top of the world. Everybody’s happy. Now we’ve lost four in a row. Everybody’s pissed.

Kerr was also disappointed with his side’s defensive effort in the game. He stated that ‘he couldn’t hear anybody’ in the 2nd quarter. His argument is supported by the statistics, which show that the Suns shot 63.6% (7/11) in the second quarter and outscored the Warriors 31–20.

On the other hand, the Suns have recovered from a five-game losing streak by winning two of their last three games. After Devin Booker (27 points), Kevin Durant (21 points), and Tyus Jones (19 points), Grayson Allen (13 points) was only the fourth-highest scorer of the evening.

Steve Kerr had a wholesome response regarding former Warrior, Kevin Durant

The Golden State Warriors played against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday, with former teammates Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant re-uniting with each other, but as opponents. Durant played for 3 seasons with the Warriors in his NBA career.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr shared his views about the same before their matchup against the Suns.

I think it was clear at the end that he was ready to move on and take on a different challenge… We would’ve loved to have kept him forever, but it wasn’t meant to be.

The Warriors advanced to three consecutive NBA Finals with Durant’s assistance. They won consecutive championships from 2017 to 2018. Durant averaged an impressive 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game during 208 Warriors’ regular season games.

He also shot 52.4% from the field and 38.4% from three-point range. Durant, however, left in 2019 for the Brooklyn Nets ending his 3-year stint with the Warriors.
