Stephen Curry achieved a major career milestone despite the Warriors suffering a fourth straight loss after their 113-105 defeat to the Suns.
Stephen Curry achieves 24,000 career points despite fourth straight loss
On Saturday night, the Golden State Warriors faced off against the Phoenix Suns in Arizona. The matchup saw former Warriors teammates, as well as Olympic teammates Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, go at each other in different uniforms.
However, the Warriors faltered yet again, losing 113-105 in what has become an alarming trend for the team. The highlight of the night, despite the Warriors’ loss, was the stellar achievement of their franchise star Stephen Curry.
Curry achieved a historic feat during the game, becoming just the 29th player in NBA history to surpass 24,000 career points. He finished the night with 23 points, seven rebounds, and four assists despite a poor 8-21 shooting performance.

While his efficiency wasn’t at its peak, the accomplishment continues to solidify his legacy as one of the greatest players in the game. Coincidentally, Curry shared the court with fellow 24k club member Kevin Durant.
However, while Curry’s achievement will be one of the major highlights to come from the game, the story of the night will be the Warriors’ alarming losing streak. The Warriors began the season in dominant form, even holding the top spot in the Western Conference.
But their recent struggles have seen them drop to fourth place with a 12-7 record. Saturday’s loss emphasized the team’s desperate need for an on-ball shot creator apart from the 36-year-old Curry. This loss on the road marked their fourth straight loss, with a tough stretch of games lined up.
Stephen Curry opens up about dealing with ‘new’ injury
Stephen Curry’s historic achievement came despite his ongoing battle with patellofemoral tendinitis in both knees, an issue the aging star has never dealt with before. Addressing the injury after the game, Curry emphasized that the team’s medical staff has a proactive plan to manage the condition and prevent it from lingering.
The injury forced Curry to miss the Warriors’ previous game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, a close 105-101 loss. This season, he has also dealt with an ankle issue and left knee bursitis, the former of which caused him to miss three games earlier this season. His health and availability remain pivotal as the Warriors prepare for their next game against reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.
